I find it incredibly interesting that the people who posted incessantly about Hunter's laptop, Joe's garage Corvette, Burisma, Cafe Milano, etc., have not said one peep on this board about the tsunami of evidence Trump is using his presidential powers to (1) enrich himself and his family, (2) enrich his supporters and loyalists, and (3) whitewash the prior criminal actions of his supporters and loyalists.

Silence? Ramrouser? Calla? HeelYeah? Pandemic Blue? Any of you want to comment on the unapologetic corruption we're seeing from the guy you sent back to the Oval Office?

You know they don't.

I'd just like to know if they're good with the POTUS they voted for cuddling up with Mohammed bin Salman, Tamim bin Al Hamad Al Thani, al-Sharaa, Putin, Kim, Orban, Bukele, etc. I'd hope they'd have the balls to say if that's what they want. And if they do, that's fine. We can compartmentalize you accordingly.

I don’t find it interesting. It was expected.

Paul Walczak’s pardon application cited his mother’s support for the president, including raising millions of dollars and a connection to a plot to publicize a Biden family diary.

Mr. Walczak, a former nursing home executive who had pleaded guilty to tax crimes days after the 2024 election, submitted a pardon application to President Trump around Inauguration Day. The application focused not solely on Mr. Walczak’s offenses but also on the political activity of his mother, Elizabeth Fago.

Ms. Fago had raised millions of dollars for Mr. Trump’s campaigns and those of other Republicans, the application said. It also highlighted her connections to an effort to sabotage Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s 2020 campaign by publicizing the addiction diary of his daughter Ashley Biden — an episode that drew law enforcement scrutiny.

Mr. Walczak’s pardon application argued that his criminal prosecution was motivated more by his mother’s efforts for Mr. Trump than by his admitted use of money earmarked for employees’ taxes to fund an extravagant lifestyle.…”

But Biden pardoned his son to avoid persecution, so obviously both sides.

Trump is literally selling pardons and the Supreme Court said that the evidence of the pardon can't be used to establish the bribery. Which is fine with me, really. As far as I'm concerned, we already tried the regular way with Trump. Next step is to throw him and his entire family in Gitmo.

How much money do you think we could raise with a PPV show of Trump choosing between death by electrocution and death by shark?

I’d certainly subscribe!

Why would the pardon discharge the restitution obligation? My understanding is that the restitution order is akin to a civil judgment and can be enforced by the victims through judgment enforcement proceedings.

I’d be surprised if the government could vacate the restitution order by pardon. And if could, that may raise 5th amendment takings issues.

You may be correct, I don’t know.

Welp, I'm surprised. Per the OLC, the President can wipe out the restitution order with a pardon. I guess the victims can always sue civilly if the statute of limitations has not expired.
