Oh. I googled Gibson, NC and it was on the state line near Charlotte. Must be a different Gibson...

That was my mistake. I originally typed Gibson, when I should have type Godwin. Sorry.

. . .. I like old houses like that. I love tin roofs. Wish I could install one on my house.
When I was growing up, the part of the house I slept in had a tin roof. On rainy nights when when the rain was pitter-pattering on the roof it was very easy to slip off into a very deep and restful sleep.

Jadaculla Rock, Jackson County, NC. I asked my niece's husband (who is the assistant director of Native American Studies at the University of Georgia, was raised in WNC, did his masters thesis on Jadaculla Rock at Western Carolina, and did his PhD on Christian hymns translated into Cherokee) how I could respond to people who claim Jadaculla Rock is a 19th Century fake. He smiled and laughed. And said that there are three other similar "map rocks" in the Southeast. And that he had attended a conference a few months prior where an analysis of a different, but similar, map rock had been conducted and that map rock showed the existance of previously unknown villages at known river junctions. Archeological digs at several indicated sites revealed previously unknown villages. He said, that was pretty good proof of their actual antiquity.
