Regarding the state of the Union...

First, holding up the signs was a great idea by Democrats. I wish they would have had more of them to use in response to Trump.

Second, the back and forth between Trump and the Democratic side of the room was pretty funny. Trump is still a liar and a piece of shit, but when he's not immediately acting like a jackass, he can be entertaining . I don't know a lot about British Parliament, but a reminded me of the back and forth between John Burcow (Bercow? Berkow?) and Parliament.

The Democratic party has simply lost its way...from the juvenile display seen last night with their lame ass little signs to the posters on this thread talking about Flagg. What it must be like to be so weak-minded, not man enough, or so wedded to a party to allow yourself to fall in line when a party of destruction tells you to when simple logic and common sense should lead you not to.

If you fell for the Trump colluded with Russia lie, the border is secure lie, if you were convinced to believe that millions of illegals from the most dangerous places in the world with no proper vetting pouring into our country was no big deal, that the laptop was fake, that a man can become pregnant, that it's ok to transition children behind the backs of their parents, that criminals should not be prosecuted, that Jussie Smollett was attacked by Trump supporters, that border patrol was whipping migrants, that the policies which led to having to lock toothpaste behind glass so it won't be stolen when unprosecuted criminals go smash and grab are ok, and this is just a small sample. If you believed any of this, wonder what it must be like to be you?

I'm glad I don't know but it looks like the country is growing sick of the lunacy embraced by the lunatic left and it can't come soon enough.
Actually, based on growing protests and polls showing rising concern it would seem that precisely the opposite is happening - Americans are quickly growing tired and even very angry at the gutting of their government by Trump and his unelected Co-President Musk. There are already plenty of Trump voters saying they didn't think any of this would be happening and they want it to stop. And we're just at the start of Trump's term - wait another year until all of these tariffs and cuts really start to hit the great majority of people and let's see what they're saying then.

You know, it really is telling that Calla (or any Trumper, really) would insist on posting on a mostly liberal message board during their hero's first speech to congress in their second term. And on a thread where the vast majority of posts aren't even discussing Dear Leader's speech but talking about college sports and which team is likely to win the national title. It's almost as if Calla is more interested in trolling and trash talking than he is in listening to his supposed hero's glorious speech. Which actually pretty much fits the profile of most Trumpers - it's more about "owning the libs" than in actually celebrating their victories.
He's an old troll

Imagine getting your rocks off to message board trolling after the age of 20

I get it some. I'll never be a true troll because I'm too lazy to keep track of all the necessary lies and misrepresentations but I definitely have it in me to agitate people. I just turned 73 and expect to do that as long as I can post. Course, I moved straight from my first childhood to my second one.

Agree, but I think we need to be more selective/thorough (vetting) at the border. There are surely some number who reach the "credible fear" requirement, but I believe more can be turned away at the ports of entry.
If they aren't criminals, why would we want to?

CNN made clear that their poll heavily skewed Republican because of who was watching the SOTU. Not sure about CBS but they limited to people watching (which is how it has been done in the age of extreme partisanship).

The CBS poll last night was very similar to the 2018 SOTU:

The CNN poll had some underlying negative data for Trump based on the baseline of “very positive” respondents (which has been dropping generally for years apparently):

Query whether this should be treated as / compared to a first speech to Congress, however?

The speech did what we all knew. He was going to lean into social issues that he is on the side of 80% of America. When Democrats are in the 20%, it’s so bad. I don’t know why they are obsessed with being ok to every fringe thing. You have to win elections to govern.

Nonresponsive. Expound.
Again, there are credible fear requirements, related to race, religion, etc, to qualify for asylum.

We shouldn't be paying to house people, for years, who aren't going to receive asylum.

I agreed with the first part of the first sentence, but you lost me pretty quickly after that

Vagueness is your best argument?
