Just lynch34 saying typically stupid lynch34 things but under a different username. 80% of Americans don’t agree on literally anything, much less cultural issues, let alone the weird wedge issues about which Republicans are obsessed. For example, the majority of Americans – even ones like myself who are owners – believe strongly in common sense gun control measures. The majority of Americans, even ones who draw the line at transgender athletes in sports, believe that transgender people and other LGBTQ people should generally be able to live their lives the way they want. The majority of Americans, even ones who want to see better fiscal restraint and elimination of waste or fraud, don’t want federal workers to lose their jobs. And so on.

The Democrats are mostly toothless opposition, which is a huge reason why I don’t really like them despite the fact that I obviously vote for them because the alternative is literally batshit, but I think they are doing exactly what they need to be doing right now letting the Republicans destroy and disassemble everything. It’s already causing major backlash even within the Republican voter base, and we have only barely begun to feel the actual effects of the ongoing destruction of the federal government and the massive economic downturn.

I didn't watch one second of it and don't plan to. That's not because I disagree politically but because I find Donald Trump to be completely devoid of anything that I want to see, hear, or internalize. I can't deal with his childish demeanor, his mean spirit, or his lies. I just can't.

I shouldn't feel that way because he is POTUS, but it's the truth from my perspective.

The speech did what we all knew. He was going to lean into social issues that he is on the side of 80% of America. When Democrats are in the 20%, it’s so bad. I don’t know why they are obsessed with being ok to every fringe thing. You have to win elections to govern.
But you see, it’s not really that way. It’s just that Pubs focus so hard on the “fringe things” and won’t shut the F up about them. They’re obsessed. The Dems— at least on the federal level— don’t focus so much on the fringe things, because, generally speaking, those things aren’t that important on that level. They’re not really things we should be focusing on. They also don’t wish to target those “fringe things” in a disparaging or discriminatory way. But because the Dems don’t also pile on the opposition to those things and don’t think they need to the focus of federal government, the Pubs (and those who don’t actually pay to attention to what’s really going on) falsely characterize the democratic platform as being about those “fringe things.” But in reality, it’s the Pubs, not the Dems, who make those things such a big part of their politics.

Disingenuous poster does disingenuous posting. That poster is like the GreaterValue version of the gt concern troll. I'm not sure of Hinton's origin story, though ford claiming he's lynch gave me a genuine LOL moment, and would fit with ... [chef's kiss]

The Democrats are mostly toothless opposition,
It will be interesting to see how the Dems vote on the Budget items. I mean do they vote against a "continuing resolution"-??
Presumably there are a handful of pubs that will vote against anything short of shutting down the govt-and so some Dems will be need

Wtf are you talking about?

Where are you getting the 80% figure from?

And what “fringe” things are Democrats obsessed with? Note the key word, “obsessed.” Only one party seems to be obsessed with anything on the fringes.

Do this: Make a list of every “fringe” thing you think Democrats get pinned on them. Now google each thing for quotes, and you’ll find out which group is truly obsessed about it.

Wow, HintonJames isn't in the Ignore/Super Ignore zoo yet. A few more idiotic posts like the one he vomited up this morning and I'll have to reconsider.

P.S. - I think we all know where he got the 80% figure. It was somewhere close to the seat of his pants.

If you take away social issues, what do Democrats and Republicans really disagree about that is going to move the needle? The tax rate on the richest people? Do we spend ridiculous or only semi-ridiculous money on the military? Will this year's deficit be over/under $1 trillion?

Democrats tried to pound on abortion rights (generally viewed as a social issue) because they believed it was a winning strategy. Republicans are doing that same in regard to social topics where they believe they have an advantage....which they probably do in many cases.

I'll bite. What social issues do you believe that Trump is aligned with 80% of America on? Which democratic social policies are only supported by 20%? Be specific, and include actual data to support your point.

Probably about the 5 post-adolescent Trans Women playing sports against cis women.

If I were a Democrat and I saw that beat down last night I'd be worried about what my party is becoming compared to what the American people are wanting.
It was a smackdown. If you think it was horrible then that is the best thing a Republican could possibly has hoped for.
Keep on keeping on...

You think that's what the SOTU is supposed to be, a rally?

Your side is so divisive. You really think people like what he's doing to the economy and sucking Russia's nips?

1. Whether the president is a de facto king
2. Whether there can exist independent agencies with protection against abuse by the executive branch
3. Whether the environment is worth saving
4. Whether it's good or bad for the world to look up to America, and whether it's good or bad to act like a mafioso in international affairs
5. Free trade, apparently
6. Whether Russia is an enemy, apparently, and relatedly whether the Neville Chamberlain approach is good.

There are many others. But you know, nothing of the magnitude of trans women playing sports.
