Young Republicans Group Invites Accused Sex Trafficker Brothers to Speak: ‘As Free Speech Absolutists…’

“… The Tates are facing a growing list of legal problems, including criminal indictments in Romania and the UK and lawsuits filed by British women accusing Andrew Tate of rape and severe abuse. The brothers have amassed gigantic online followings; just on X alone they have 14 million followers between them. They are widely credited in MAGA world for helping convince young men to vote for President Donald Trump, but have also been loudly criticized by prominent conservative voices for their misogynistic content, bragging about abusing and demeaning women, including some who were underage. …”

Russia sees talks with US as an opening to rebuild its spy networks, officials say

“…The US and Russia agreed to begin talks on restoring the regular operations of their respective embassies and consulates following a call between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putinand a subsequent high-level meeting in Riyadh earlier this month.

On Thursday, US and Russian delegations met in Turkey to discuss more granular details like staffing levels, visas, diplomatic banking, and other operational issues. The US State Department said the two countries had “constructive” talks and agreed to follow up on their discussions at another meeting “in the near term.”

Though Secretary of State Marco Rubio has highlighted the importance of restoring regular diplomatic services and communications, current and former US and Western officials say the talks also represent a significant concession to Moscow, which is eager to reinstall intelligence operatives under diplomatic cover at its embassies and consulates in Washington, New York, and Houston. …”

Making key concessions without anything in return?

That Russia was going to name Darchiev (who has been ambassador to Canada until sometime in 2021 and is a North American specialist) as U.S. Ambassador was widely reported in the international press in November, but at the time it was seen as curious since the US had expelled the Russian ambassador over the invasion of Ukraine.

“A few months ago, Sen. Ted Cruz announced that he had uncovered $2 billion of science grants funded by former President Joe Biden’s administration that prioritized “radical political perspectives” or “neo-Marxist theories.’’ His aides on a congressional committee assembled the list by searching the project descriptions for 699 key terms like “women,” “diversify,” “segregation” and “Hispanic culture.”

When Cruz released the database of this allegedly “woke” research earlier this month, we decided to run our own experiment. We asked one of the models powering ChatGPT, which can sift through large amounts of data, to evaluate all 3,500 grant descriptions in the database as if it were an investigative journalist looking for Marxist propaganda, “woke ideology,” or diversity, equity and inclusion.

The model tried to give us descriptions of how each project might fit those themes. We were particularly interested in the grants where it came up blank. We then read through the researchers’ full summaries of those and many other grants, including each one described in this story, looking for references to some of the keywords on the list.

We found that Cruz’s dragnet had swept up numerous examples of scientific projects funded by the National Science Foundation that simply acknowledged social inequalities or were completely unrelated to the social or economic themes cited by his committee.

Among them, for example, was a $470,000 grant to study the evolution of mint plants and how they spread across continents. As best we can tell, the project ran into trouble with Republicans on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation because of two specific words used in its application to the NSF: “diversify,” referring to the biodiversity of plants, and “female,” where the application noted how the project would support a young female scientist on the research team.

Other projects our AI assistant led us to included:

  • Developing a device that could treat severe bleeding. It seems to have caught the committee’s attention for using the words “victims” — as in gunshot victims — and “trauma.”
  • Creating biosensors to detect infectious diseases. The grant appears to have been tagged for the repeated use of “POC,” an acronym often used for “people of color” but in this context meaning “point of care” — that is, the place where people receive medical treatment — and “barrier,” referring to a part of the biosensor itself.
  • Designing eye-tracking technology for diagnosing and treating concussions. It appears to have gotten flagged for referencing “traumatic” brain injuries and the “status,” meaning the condition, of patients. …”

The fact that Trump is putting even the slightest bit of effort, much less political capital, into getting Tate and company back here is truly, truly baffling.

After Insults and False Claims, Trump to Host Zelensky for Minerals Deal

President Trump will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on Friday after falsely asserting that Ukraine started the war with Russia and calling him a “dictator without elections.”

Sucks that Ukraine needs us. This looks like a win for trump and his strong arm tactics.

I wish Zelensky could tell trump to fuck off and still win against Russia.

“… One of Tate's lawyers now works as White House liaison to the US justice department.
Paul Ingrassia was part of a team representing the Tate brothers in a defamation lawsuit they filed in Florida against several of their alleged victims.

Ingrassia also acted as Tate's publicist and says he got the influencer onto a show hosted by Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host.

… The Tates have also been talked about by several people in Trump's orbit, including Donald Trump Jr and Elon Musk.

Trump Jr once called Tate's detention in Romania "absolute insanity".

Musk reinstated Andrew Tate's account, which had been banned on X, and suggested, perhaps in jest, that Tate would make a good UK prime minister. …”

Trump's also rumored to be contemplating an EO to declare HOAs are illegal and unconstitutional. He may not be able to do it but I give him credit for thinking about the issue.

I thought that turned out to be a Tik Tok joke that got taken seriously? But maybe not. 🤔

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Trump mention HOAs, to be honest, but his preference for luxury properties would make that an odd issue for him to champion.

One of the best architects I ever worked with refused to take any job where there was a covenant or HOA. He wasn't impressed with the idea that someone else thought they should be able to give him directions on what he could do.

Really? You find that baffling? I think it is very on point for Trump.

The fact that you can’t seem to fathom Trump is a bad faith actor says more about you than about Trump. You’re either tremendously gullible or just purposefully obtuse. Or maybe both.

My comment was about the action of putting effort and political capital into a POS like Tate. I wasn't commenting on Trump as a person.

Federal workers could get a second email Saturday. It might require a response.

A new strategy might compel employees to respond with bulleted lists of what they did in the past week.

“Federal workers are slated to receive a second email Saturday asking them for a bullet-point description of what they did in the past week — only this time, a new strategy from the Trump administration means they might have to respond, according to two people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private talks.

Last weekend, the federal Office of Personnel Management sent a message to government employees from hr@opm.gov, asking for a list of what workers had accomplished the week before. The new message is expected to arrive from addresses associated with chiefs of agency HR departments across the federal government, the people said.

The switch could give the request more teeth, because agencies typically have more direct authority over their staff than OPM, which enacts HR policy across the bureaucracy but doesn’t actually employ most workers. …”

… During the [cabinet{ meeting, Musk sidestepped questions about whether the workers who did not reply to the [first bullet point] email would indeed be let go.

But Trump chimed in.

“Those people are on the bubble,” the president said. “Maybe they’re going to be gone.”

The White House said 1 million workers responded to the email — a little less than half of the 2.3 million civil servants working for the federal government as of January. …”

Maybe if they had an actual plan.

I listened to a podcast this week discussing this topic and the need for younger federal employees with more substantial backgrounds. There analyst said that the moves of dodge show that there isn't a plan and that they are not really considering the needs of the departments.

They even mentioned that a lot of the probationary employees were a planned move to the future for bringing in more technical knowledge. Them meeting let go is a move in the wrong direction.

Trump's also rumored to be contemplating an EO to declare HOAs are illegal and unconstitutional. He may not be able to do it but I give him credit for thinking about the issue.
Why give him credit? REALLY, we need the President to be concerned with HOAs? No, we don't, he needs to be concerned with how Musk is using him to fuck the country and increase his personal wealth. He needs to be concerned with international relationships and the economy. There are a multitude of issues he needs to be concerned with. HOAs are not one of them. He doesn't need to waste a single second worrying about HOAs.

Do you simply accept absolutely everything about Trump without question?

He never had a neighbor paint their house pink or lime green or do other things to reduce property values as due and make it harder to sell.

Yes some HOAs are really overbearing and have some stupid policies in general. But the primary point is good and that is too protect homeowners from losses to property value.

My previous neighborhood had a very small intrusive HOA. When we moved no one took over and it basically became defunct. We drove through the old neighborhood a couple of months ago. The neighborhood looks horrible. Siding falling off of houses, yards look horrible, looks like someone opened a business in one of the houses. I like living in a nice neighborhood. I really don't believe a neighborhood is a place to start an auto repair shop in one's garage.

But trump as a person is a piece of shit, why are you surprised that he supports another fellow piece of shit?

Yes he is, but he's supporting a person who is highly unpopular among Republicans. On a political level, it makes no sense. There's no upside. Most Dems dislike Tate. Most Republicans dislike Tate.
