I am skeptical of all the gloom and doom I've been hearing. Trump is going to start a nuclear war... Trump is going to end interracial marriage...etc. At some point, folks stop believing that boy when he cries wolf.

And Trump does plenty of crazy things. Let's focus on them instead of predicting that Trump is planning to end vaccines or ADHD meds.
I think you don't understand probability, among many other things.

I don't recall anyone saying, "Trump is definitely going to start a nuclear war." But any reasonable person should understand that the odds of a nuclear war have increased massively over the last month. Maybe that's an increase from 0.1% to 1% (a tenfold increase is massive, though not in absolute terms). Maybe it's 0.1% to 10%. Obviously these numbers are made up. Probably the odds of nuclear war are still very low.

But any increase in the probability of nuclear war is really bad. Whatever the likelihood, if it's non-zero it's too high. And Trump has done that.

Nobody has said anything about interracial marriage, which is why you used this example. We are concerned that they are probably going to overturn Obergefell. I mean, multiple Justices have already said they want to do that. But I'm sure you know more than anyone about this situation.

But most of this response is a reaction to his EOs. We're not making things up.

I mean, maybe the nuclear agencies didn't need those 300 people that this administration let go, maybe we do...
What I see is a lot of "we are going to look at how we prescribe ADHD meds or how we administer vaccines" and it becomes "my kid won't be able to get vaccines or ADHD meds."

They might end same sex marriage but not interracial marriage. Clarence Thomas is married to a crazy white Trumper. Then again, he is probably against interracial marriage personally, but would grandfather it for himself. That is the moral character of the pubic hair on coke can man.

You understand that (a) epidemiologists and researchers at CDC, NIH and other governmental agencies are already doing that, and have been doing that consistently for decades now; (b) the Trump/Musk admin is in the process of decimating the staffing at the agencies noted above; and (c) the people now claiming to want to “look into how we prescribe ADHD meds and administer vaccines” have repeatedly rejected established science supporting vaccines and ADHD meds, right??

Georgia has legislation waiting for the same sex marriage to reach the SCOTUS. If Obergefell is struck down, then same sex marriage will be outlawed in Ga.

Maybe I could have worded that better. 😁
Some hope for you/her...

The Respect for Marriage Act (which many GOPers said was pointless because of Obergefell) did pass, which means states have to recognize marriages legally performed in another state AND the federal government must recognize them. That said, many states would again stop issuing new licenses but existing ones and ones performed in legal states after that, would continue to be ok.

If they had left some reputable people in charge of doing that who had a sense of priorities, I'd not have much of a problem. Firing them and leaving it to crackpots and dingbats don't do so much for me.
“Dingbat?” - You just insulted Edith Bunker. Seriously, we are in a world of shit since 1/20/25.

Maybe that's because the guy who said that has been advocating banning those meds and vaccines for 25 years.

See, there's a constraint that maybe you don't know about. The Administrative Procedure Act requires substantial evidence to justify agency rulemaking. So whatever their intent, they have to first order it to be studied. Then when the study comes back, they can act on it. But of course the study will produce the evidence they want, and then we're going to have to sue to overturn.

There's also another really important issue, which is that HHS determines the supply cap for all controlled substances, including Ritalin and ADHD meds. Kennedy could lower that cap, creating shortages.

That is what he said. Here is the relevant part of the quote.

"...because their immune system is better than ours.” —RFK Jr
That's your sanewashing. The relevant part of the quote is that he stated that black people shouldn't get the same vaccinations as white people. That is so patently wrong and such an incredible mischaracterization of the studies both he and you are referencing.

Here is the entire quote. It says the two groups shouldn't get the same vaccination schedule. It does not say they shouldn't get the same vaccinations. Your statement is so patently wrong and such an incredible mischaracterization of what he said.

“We should not be giving Black people the same vaccine schedule that’s given to Whites, because their immune system is better than ours.” —RFK Jr.

Given the incredibly lengthy history of discrimination in medical access and treatment, this statement is exceedingly troubling at best.

Is this an Administration or a remake of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"?
And I have the feeling there is worse to come...Kash Patel ! He's one crazy MF.

What do you think a vaccination schedule is? Kids get two MMR vaccines. Should black kids only get one? Or should they get different ones? Either way, it's a racist disaster of a comment and shame on you for defending it.

Note: there is no evidence to support that view. But even if you accept the unscientific view that black people have an X% stronger immune response, what conclusions do you draw? Either they should have different vaccines; or they should have fewer vaccines; or the higher immune response has zero relevance. None of these are good for you.

To me, this is providing more resources to the African population based on genetic differences. The medical establishment could keep those of primarily African decent on the same vaccination schedule as people of European decent. I would guess the majority of of participants in the studies that the current vaccination schedule is based on were of European descent. It's what we do today and it may be exactly right.

Or they could devote extra resources to study a population that has a more robust immunological response. They might find they need A lower dose or perhaps a higher dose or vaccinations at different times or they may find that it doesn't matter. But I don't think it's out of line or at all racist to at least devote those resources to study it.

What would you take money away from to do this? It's not totally unimportant but I doubt it makes the top 500.

I have no idea. That's way too into the weeds for me. Do you have a suggestion?
Yeah. Give someone a small grant to study it and collect more information. You're going to have to have that information to make a decent decision on how or if you need to approach it, so start with the basics and just the basics.

Sounds like a pretty good plan. I'm not sure that RFK Jr is proposing anything different than a study based on his quotes.
