I don't think rammy really wants to wade into this topic. While it's true that cases of sexual harassment, assault, and even rape cut across both parties, there has been a clear difference over the past couple of decades in how the two parties deal with these accusations, and it doesn't favor Republicans.
 
I think it's common and ok to feel two things here
1. Gross and if he did it then get him
2. Also kind of wtf on the timing ... Like why did these women wait until now?

Like sexual misconduct is wrong. But to get your justice you don't need to wait until a person is getting lots of publicity...
 
This is not the same as the Rs and Trump. For starters, the women that Swalwell was allegedly involved with were far too old for Trump to have taken an interest in.

Should he also drop his lawsuit against Trump that a federal judge ruled just a few days ago could proceed to trial ?

I know Trump is delighted with this late breaking report. I imagine California GQPers are very happy, and I'm sure Katie Porter and Tom Steyer are not unhappy.

I have always liked Swalwell because he has been one of the very few Dems in Congress to take the fight to Trump. These allegations seem out of character for him, and the timing seems odd coinciding with the primary coming up in a few weeks and the recent Trump court ruling in favor of Swalwell.

If he did sexually assault a staffer, then I hope she takes him to trial and have him face the consequences for his actions.

Absolutely !

If that staffer was not capable of consenting to sex then he should face a trial.

Given the timing of this alleged sexual assault, I would be interested in knowing when it occurred and when she realized it had occurred. I'm guessing it occurred in the last few days ?

They’ve known about his antics for years, including jeopardizing national security with a Chinese spy while serving on the Intelligence Committee. But now things are going public (and may harm his chances in the election) so the Dems are dumping him. Sort of like the way Dems covered up for and gaslighted us about Biden until they couldn’t anymore after the debate.

You are correct, you don't need to wait. But waiting until the moment of maximum impact is OK too. Raping and sexually exploiting others does not entitle one to pick and choose what gets revealed when. Six months ago, I couldn't have picked Swalwell out of a line-up.

I am not sure I understand.

So let's say that this alleged sexual assault occurred this past November after Swalwell announced his run for Governor. Are you suggesting that the alleged victim calculated that the best time to wait and report this would be several weeks before the primary in order to get "maximum impact" ?

Agree. It's easier to turn a blind eye when political risks are low.
