I have great hope for a future where mRNA therapies are used to treat cancer. Think about a world where you're diagnosed with cancer, the dna of the cancer is extracted, AI tech is used to develop antibodies for your specific cancer, which are then administered using mRNA vaccines.

JFKjr is pushing that dream out of my lifetime, or in to the hands of another country.
MAGA is waiting on their talking points for explaining why dying of cancer is a good thing.

There's a reason I said "specifically". That all sounds like an open-ended money pit for at least some things that aren't even an issue, given that multiple mRNA vaccines were developed, manufactured, distributed and successfully delivered into humans.

Half a billion dollars seems a "tad" excessive.
Is there anything in the universe that you will admit you know nothing about? I just have no idea at all how you come to the conclusion that it's a tad excessive when you have no fucking idea how any of this even works. It would take you half a year just to understand what mRNA really is and how it works.

They don't give out PhDs like halloween candy, you know. The people who work in this field have been studying, learning, researching for decades. You've read a USA Today article or two.

I'm a lot less informed about socks than I previously believed.

I explained why it seemed excessive in my last post

Very Doubtful.

I do know.

Agree, but I don't see how that applies here.
You've read a USA Today article or two.
I've read a lot more than that!

So what is the thinking here? I mean, Republicans get cancer, too. It’s not like this is your typical “own the libs” situation. Why cancel mRNA research funding?
Because according to the facebook and tiktok doctors, mRNA doesn't cure you, it kills you.

our greedy healthcare community is to blame....nothing else
This is a BIGLY ignorant statement.

This is why the US is falling behind other countries, why it will take decades to recover from trump, and why we are becoming a laughing stock.

You read an article about unnecessary procedures. Good for you. Based on that you now understand less than 0.0001% of how science and healthcare works. Congratulations.

funding for all medical research is driven by $$$ so whats not to trust

Not true.

Many medical and scientific discoveries are in search of helping people and advancing society. Conservatives and libertarians don't understand the concept. That's why it is asinine to run government like a business. Government isn't about traditional profit and loss.

How much is excessive to try to retrofit a jet accepted as a bribe?

That is pretty unfair reporting by the AP. They know full well that there are alternatives to the mRNA vaccines including novavax which is already on the market and is easier to store and distribute than mRNA covid vaccines.
In other news, Novavax stock is up 13% today...

I have increasing difficulty trying to discern if RFKJ's decisions are based on legitimately loony views or if instead he's trying to create a basis for future lawsuits and thereby continuing his life-long grift. I imagine it's a little of both.

And yet we recently had a poster here arguing that RFK, Jr. was actually doing some good things overall and that liberals ought to support him more often. Um, no. Whatever "good" he's potentially doing is going to be vastly outweighed by the damage he's causing. There's a very good chance that thousands may unnecessarily die because of his direct actions before he's finished.

I have had what 4-5, maybe 6 covid shots? I can't tell you how many times I've died from it.
I've had 4. I died after the second one. Deep-state body double's been holding down my job and watching the kids.

Certainly makes sense. But I don't think the current mRNA vaccines for covid are getting banned by the FDA. But they are much more expensive than the alternatives and harder to distribute so I'm guessing that they will get mostly supplanted.

I did read that there were some good results from a study for mRNA for flu vaccines. They were still much more expensive than the current options but they get a better immune reaction and they are able to produce the vaccines much quicker. This means that you can start producing closer to flu season and get a better idea of what flu strains are going to be the correct ones to target.
