Sigh. There was a definitive meta-analysis in 2024. Well, about as definitive as a meta-analysis can get. It didn't find a relationship between tylenol and autism. It was able to explain all previous associations as mere confounding from observable but not controlled variables.

I retired at age 69.5. The reason I retired was because: (a) I came to the realization that I couldn't hit the fast balls anymore and (b) if I had come to that realization independently, then how long had it been since I actually couldn't hit the fast balls? I really didn't want to go out amidst some catastrophe I had either created or enabled.

The writers are all former U.S. surgeons general.
As former U.S. surgeons general appointed by every Republican and Democratic president since George H.W. Bush, we have collectively spent decades in service as the Nation’s Doctor. We took two sacred oaths in our lifetimes: first, as physicians who swore to care for our patients and, second, as public servants who committed to protecting the health of all Americans.

Today, in keeping with those oaths, we are compelled to speak with one voice to say that the actions of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are endangering the health of the nation. Never before have we issued a joint public warning like this. But the profound, immediate and unprecedented threat that Kennedy’s policies and positions pose to the nation’s health cannot be ignored.

“… A 2018 internal presentation the company labeled “privileged and confidential” acknowledges that observational studies show a “somewhat consistent” association between prenatal exposure to Tylenol and neurodevelopmental disorders. Another presentation slide acknowledges that larger meta-analyses — reviews summarizing multiple scientific studies — found an association, but notes weaknesses of these studies like confounding variables and subjectivity in measuring autistic traits.

“Johnson & Johnson divested its consumer health business years ago, and all rights and liabilities associated with the sale of its over-the-counter products, including Tylenol (acetaminophen), are owned by Kenvue,” a Johnson & Johnson spokesman said in a statement.

… Hearings before the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in the class action suit against Kenvue will begin Oct. 9. Judge Denise Cote granted summary judgement for Kenvue in September 2023, after tossing the scientific testimony from experts for Keller Postman, citing the “great public health implications” of pregnant women not having the drug.…”

RFK says if you got a circumcision you are at increased risk of autism.
Every time I think he can't say anything crazier he proves me wrong! Good fucking lord how insane is the world we live in

RFK says if you got a circumcision you are at increased risk of autism.
I wish they would have come to this conclusion when I was a baby. Might have saved me a few inches on the yardstick, if you know what I mean.

Trump Administration Is Bringing Back Scores of C.D.C. Experts Fired in Error

Friday’s layoffs swept up scientists involved in responding to disease outbreaks and running an influential journal. Officials said the mistaken dismissals were being rescinded.

It is also possible that these RIGs were not in error but more a form of targeted harassment… but it sounds like the person doing the firing had no idea how the agency is setup or what the people being fired do.

“… The confusion over how the disease teams are organized “demonstrates their lack of understanding that this thing is an interconnected organism,” Dr. Daskalakis said, referring to the C.D.C.

“I’m happy people are back, but this damage is not easy to repair both for current staff and for people who will lead public health in the future,” he added.

The agency’s entire Washington office, which was laid off on Friday, will not be rehired. Nor will employees of the office of the director of the center for injury prevention, or those at the division of violence prevention policy.

“This is going to be devastating to Americans and to the global community,” said Dr. Debra Houry, who served as the agency’s chief medical officer before she resigned in August in protest against the administration’s policies.

“They are dismantling public health,” she added.“
