I brought my son to Dallas to a mini family reunion they do every year. It has mostly been a disaster as I have been chasing my son around nonstop. (The flight out went smooth at least.)

At dinner on Friday I had to deal with my son yelling (happily but still) and trying to run off. I ended up boxing up my dinner and leaving and have skipped all meals since.

But, anyway, I also had to deal with my oldest brother at dinner talking about vaccines and Tylenol and Autism - which is honestly pretty rude considering they were essentially talking about me and my son. He then said that COVID was a bioweapon and then looked at me and say, “Actually created thanks to UNC.”

Like f’ you asshole. Sorry you chose to not get vaccinated and COVID destroyed your brain.

This will be the last time any of them see my son. I did this because last year a couple said they have never seen my son (he is 16) so I figured I should try this one time. Not their fault but this has been miserable. My oldest brother hasn’t seen my son since my dad’s funeral 10 years ago and this will certainly be the last time. Good riddance.

My other brother keeps saying they will come to visit but they have been saying that for 10 years so who knows.

Anyway, sorry, rambling. This post was supposed to be about the vaccine/tylenol BS.

Hope my son is ok on the flight back.

Not exactly HHS, but Kennedy related and STILL crazier than thr last Kennedy related item.

And mean, good God, can these people actually be this dumb? Putin just has to belly laugh at the Republican party now being part of the apparatchik

RFK Jr.'s warnings about sperm counts fuel doomsday claims about male fertility

The health secretary has warned about falling sperm counts in teens. Doctors say the reality is far more nuanced and little cause for panic.

“… Contrary to Kennedy’s claims, sperm counts decline with age, so young men have much higher counts than older men. And data about sperm counts in teen boys largely does not exist.

Some researchers contend that men’s overall sperm counts are lower than they were generations ago, based mostly on two papers published in the last decade. Others say there’s no convincing evidence of the trend. And many agree that even if sperm counts are declining, it does not amount to a full-blown fertility crisis.

“This is a very contentious issue in our field, and for every paper that you find that suggests a decline and raises an alarm for this issue, there’s another paper that says that the numbers aren’t changing, and that there’s no cause for concern,” said Dr. Scott Lundy, a reproductive urologist at the Cleveland Clinic.…”

The testosterone/low sperm count thing is a huge issue for the MAHA constituency, so they’ll love this. Probably nothing will get done about the root cause (microplastics) because it’s inconvenient, difficult and would cut into profits of big companies.

The average teenage male has 50% less testosterone than the average 65 year old man? That has to be BS.
I agree. But there was some sort of talk about BMI in there. If the actual correlation is better represented by BMI rather than age, then I would be inclined to believe it. If the average BMI of teenage boys had dramatically increased, then it would not surprise me if their testosterone levels or sperm count had correspondingly decreased.

I would assume that the average 65 yr old male has a far higher BMI than the average teenage boy.
