Is there a quote from RFK promoting trans fats? That truly makes no sense and would be at odds with his opposition to processed foods. But expecting anything intelligent to come from him might be to high of a bar.

Yep. People need more saturated fats and less carbs (wheat based products for the most part). RFK is correct on the saturated fats but crazy on many others. Too bad because him being crazy keeps people from believing the sat fat advice.

The “avoid fat because it causes you to get fat” theme we’ve been hearing for around 75 years has really damaged our population. It’s the excess bad carbs that’s causing obesity.
Thanks be to the corn and wheat corporations.

I have a strong feeling that a certain population will see a couple headlines related to these guidelines, increase their consumption of saturated fats while not changing anything else (ie continuing to consume plenty of unhealthy carbs) and boom- spike in heart disease.

I've got a little list — I've got a little list
Of society offenders who might well be underground
And who never would be missed — who never would be missed!

So, healthcare is mainly about keeping our human drones working (until we can replace them with actual drones)?

Does that mean that the antivaccine movement is some form of weird planned obsolescence to weed out the weak and susceptible before they can retire?

I'm a government contractor and we've been told to stop all government work next week. Up til now we've been allowed to work since the contract was funded and we're pretty independent. But no more. I guess it was a bad look that most of the feds above us were furloughed but we kept working "without supervision".

Also, I think people assumed something would be worked out but now are starting to worry about this dragging out until Thanksgiving or later.

It is insane that the House has just taken an extended, paid vacation. Even if this thing is magically resolved and they pass the House CR today, they’ve got a ton of work to do to get any part of their remaining work done before this CR would expire by its terms on November 21(!).

This is so true and God I wish the Dems had someone who could message it. The CR was always intended to be a Band-Aid, and it's far from the only thing Congress needs to be working on. Johnson's intransigence is keeping Congress from having any chance of creating a long-term plan for federal spending or addressing any of our other pressing needs. Americans are increasingly pissed about the state of the country. The party in power is (1) taking a vacation, and (b) tearing down the East Wing to build a golden ballroom. Dems should be absolutely HAMMERING the Pubs on this right now, but all the messaging seems to be coming from the Twitterverse, not from elected officials.
