Uh-oh. Here comes Cassidy!

ok, so I have been day drinking since 7am, but I had this idea...

Bill Gates has billions upon billions at his disposal and has a keen interest in public health.

The CDC budget is around 10 billion
The NIH budget is around 50 billion

Bill's net worth is over 100 billion
Bill has a good relationship with Warren Buffet who is worth 150 billion
Michael Bloomberg is worth over a 100 billion

What a legacy for 70 yo Bill and 80yo+ for Buffett and Bloomberg

Those three could establish an independent institute and recreate the CDC and NIH . The world looks to the CDC and NIH as the gold standard, and an independent institution like this could attract commitments to support this health institute.

What a legacy for 70 yo Bill and 80yo+ for Buffett and Bloomberg

ok , I stop drinking at 5pm because I'm a moderate drinker so I'm signing off

As expected, Trump/RFK Jr are naming a sycophant with no background in scientific research, medicine, or healthcare as interim director at CDC.

“The Trump administration has picked Deputy Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Jim O’Neill to serve as acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a day after the administration fired current Director Susan Monarez, officials told The Hill.”

“O’Neill is a Silicon Valley investor and former CEO of the Thiel Foundation, funded by Trump donor Peter Thiel.”

Inside the Trump Administration’s Vaccine Politics

Trump embraced the MAHA movement’s antivaccine supporters; now a crisis is unfolding at the CDC under RFK Jr.’s leadership

“As President Trump sat with top donors at his New Jersey golf club this month, he made a private admission: He believed the coronavirus vaccine was one of the biggest accomplishments of his presidency, but he couldn’t bask in it.

Trump told donors at a dinner—who were paying $1 million to be there—that he wished he could talk more about Operation Warp Speed, the government program he initiated that helped expedite the development of the vaccine, attendees said. The guests included Pfizer Chief Executive Albert Bourla, whose company developed one of the first Covid-19 vaccines. …”

God, this is depressing - prideful ignorance. As they say, the more you know, the more you realize you dont know, and yet here he is, proudly displaying his ignorance. He sounds more like a 5th grade kid in the school yard than a Secretary of HHS.
Black sheep of the family.

Infectious disease experts on this side of the border are slamming the state of public health in the U.S., after the Trump administration fired the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On Wednesday, after less than one month on the job, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Susan Monarez would no longer be the head of the CDC.

It’s the administration’s latest aim at public health, following changes to COVID-19 vaccines guidelines, and President Donald Trump initiating the process of withdrawing from the World Health Organization.

Those who work in this field say they fear what’s happening down south will have ripple effects on the Canadian health-care system.

Concerns about vaccine access

“I don’t really know any other way to say this, but it’s catastrophic what’s happening in the United States right now in terms of public health,” said Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at the University of Saskatchewan and Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization.

Rasmussen said Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. health and human services secretary, has made it clear he intends to restrict access to vaccines.

“And that’s not simply going to affect the United States,” she said.

My wife works for the CDC. Well, she does for one more week, til her contract ends. She works in vaccine safety, and one of the people that resigned was her director. I guess the country doesn't care about vaccine safety anymore. I think she's relieved to be done with the chaos.
