Obviously the mother's life takes priority at really any point in the pregnancy. I'm talking about a healthy pregnant mother with a growing human inside of her that has developed to the point that there is a true heart beat. While that thing may not be viable, can you say it's not living and not human?
No. It's living but not human if not aware. Physical health is not the only aspect. Being able to handle the mental, emotional and financial burden counts as well. This is not happening in a vacuum. Not all pregnancies are wanted. Some are forced. Some are failures in birth control (two of mine. We'd planned to have them but not then.)There are other people, other pressures and other obligations to consider.

Frankly, I'd rather a child be aborted than end up being hated, abused and beaten or even killed. None of them end up undamaged and it often leads to a cycle of abuse.

I recognize the importance of your religious views. Other religious people find support for their "conception" position. I, an atheist, look at it differently. I look at it like this.... If a doctor, surgeon, EMS, etc wants to see if you're alive, what do they check for? A heartbeat, right? If you're a human and have a heartbeat, you are considered to be alive. If you're a human and alive, your rights should be constitutionally protected, right?
So sorry but not true

No brain and you're dead even though your heart is beating

I think the question of the mother being mentally prepared, emotionally prepared, etc is a separate question from the rights of the living thing, to whatever extent they exist. BTW, I'm not pro-life. I'm fine with abortion and was fine with it under the confines of Roe v Wade.

You agree that "it" is alive, but say that it's not human. What is it and what is the "awareness" that makes it human?

I didn't say anything about 6 weeks or any specific time frame for the heartbeat to exist.

The question is whether or not the thing in the woman is "alive" before it's viable. For some, life begins at conception. I don't agree. The dividing and multiplying of cells is really no different than cancer. There's nothing you can point to and say "that thing is alive". I think a heartbeat is a sign of life and that's true throughout the medical world. A doctor or surgeon uses a heartbeat to determine if John Doe or Jane Doe is alive, right?
Most who are pushing heart beat laws are targeting 6 weeks.

This is not because of a heart beat it's because many women don't know they are pregnant at 6 weeks, it's really a way to try and block all abortions but make it look like they are not.
