I well remember watching him back in the day - he was a beast as you said, and a formidable and worthy opponent for UNC. Seemed like a nice guy too, at least from what I remember. RIP.

Rodney Rogers was in my house one afternoon after he had an AAU game. I was probably around 12 at the time. He was extremely nice and seemed larger than life after watching him play and then seeing him fill up the door frame while coming up the stairs in my house.

Oh no. That’s so sad. He was a GREAT college player who went on to have a solid NBA career. Definitely one of the great talents to come out of NC and one of the all-time greats to play at Wake Forest. He died way too young, though I know his condition greatly reduced his life expectancy.

He did do a 360 dunk vs. us. I think that was the first time I ever saw someone do a 360 in a college game.

Dang, that sucks.

He was an amazing player and he earned the highest compliment I can give a non-Tar Heel…I hated his guts when we played Wake. You knew he was going to bring it and he would make a victory, if you got it, very difficult.
