The only point of this summit was for putin to bring trump a list of financial incentives for his businesses in exchange for continued limited support of Ukraine.

Too bad they didn't leave it behind at the hotel with other sensitive docs.

Not a ton of info in the papers but gotta say Susie Wiles was getting short shrift in the lunch seating and the lunch menu was pretty pedestrian — not that any of that mattered since the lunch was canceled.

As an aside, it had seemed Rubio out-maneuvered Vance in the timing and participation in this event. But maybe JD Vance picked a great meeting to miss for another family vacay, though.

Trump Backs Plan to Cede Land for Peace in Ukraine

After meeting the Russian president, President Trump told European leaders he now favors giving up unoccupied Ukrainian land to Russia to end the fighting, a concession Ukraine has long opposed.

“… Mr. Trump told European leaders, that he believed a rapid peace deal could be negotiated if Mr. Zelensky agrees to cede the rest of the Donbas region to Russia, even those areas not occupied by Russian troops, according to two senior European officials briefed on the call.

In return, Mr. Putin offered a cease-fire in the rest of Ukraine at current battle lines and a written promise not to attack Ukraine or any European country again, the senior officials said. He has broken similar promises before.

Mr. Trump had threatened stark economic penalties if Mr. Putin left the meeting without a deal to end the war, but, as European and Russian officials acknowledged, he suspended those threats in the wake of the summit.

… Still, in public statement, the European leaders praised Mr. Trump — in mellower terms than normal — for his efforts to broker peace, and in particular for his pledge to involve the United States in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security going forward.

… At a joint news conference after their meeting, Mr. Putin referred obliquely to agreements between Mr. Trump and himself, without elaborating, and added, “We expect that Kyiv and European capitals will perceive that constructively and will not throw a wrench in the works.”

… Russia entered Friday’s inconclusive talks with the United States from a position of strength on the battlefield in Ukraine. It is a position Russia is likely to keep exploiting, as President Trump on Saturday seemed to rule out any prospect of an imminent cease-fire.

The Russian Army has driven a wedge into Ukrainian defenses in the east, and Ukrainian officials have warned that Moscow has massed forces and equipment for new offensive operations.…”

I almost hate to admit this, but if St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago had arrested Vlad "the Ras" Putin as soon as he stepped on US soil, immediately transported him to The Hague for trial, and resigned saying that he had a accomplished the only thing he ever intended to do as President, then I would have contributed more money than I could have prudently afforded to the carving his likeness on Mt. Rushmore.

But, that did not happen.

I stopped reading after the bit about Vlad "the Ras" Putin offering a "written promise." If Vlad made a written promise to urinate sometime in the next 24 hours, then I would demand that 3rd party medical/testing experts examine the urine and verify it came from Vlad.

I see Zelensky isn't wasting anytime racing to Washington for what should be an easy layup. He will declare that he is ready to meet Putin for final peace talks if only Trump will give him the time and place. And of course will lay it on thick that this accomplishment is only possible because of the GREAT Donald Trump. Umm..........seems like we have seen this movie before?

If we are lucky, that will be the last we hear of it.

My memory is fuzzy, but seem like the last time this happened, Zelensky was able to extract a resumption of U.S. military shipments to Ukraine. Off the record of course. So no wonder Zelensky is racing.

Those Hannity clips are fucking wild. After completely embarrassing America and the office of President those two clowns are trying to make the headline “Putin confirms war wouldn’t have happened if trump was president”

Kamala said at the debate that Putin would eat trumps lunch. She had that exactly right.

Now they gotta get back to being evil because being seen as incompetent boobs is a big no-no.

This pretty much sums up my takeaway from yesterday's failed and embarrassing summit.

In re: JD Vance's absence. While I realize I am giving the Regency of St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago more credit than it deserves, I actually think it is a good idea for the President and Vice-President to be in different places during events like this. Whatever Kompromat Russia has on St. Donald, there's probably worse to be had on Mike Johnston.

Europe is sending heavy hitters to Washington alongside Ukraine’s president to bolster Kyiv

European leaders are on an all-out push to forestall Oval Office conflict at a crucial stage in diplomacy to end Russia’s war on Ukraine.

“… Plans are in the works to send at least one of Trump’s favorite interlocutors, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, along with Zelenskyy when he comes to Washington Monday to meet with Trump, according to two European diplomats and a person familiar with the matter. The idea is that Stubb can help prevent any flare-ups between Trump and Zelenskyy and convince the U.S. president to include Europe in any further talks.…”
