That analogy is incomplete.

A better one would be Russia invading Florida a decade ago. Then they sign a peace treaty only to go back on it years later and invade Georgia and S Carolina on their way up to DC. A stalemate ensues and a foreign leader who provides aid suggests a peace deal where Russia gets to keep all of their gains, US turns over mineral rights to the supporting country, and that country provides absolutely no guarantee of support if Putin again reneges on the deal.

Trump is siding with the aggressor over our ally in this war and everyone with 2 functioning brain cells can deduce this. Despite this, Zelensky came to the WH to try to work out a way forward that allows him to serve his people by keeping American support flowing at some level. Trump and Vance decided that Zelensky continuing to try to work with the US via mineral rights wasn't enough and had to try to humiliate Zelensky in front of the media to put him in his place. But when Zelensky refused to go along with his own humiliation and very gently pushed back with a correct statement/question, Trump & Vance lost their minds and acted like fools.

But because Republicans can't admit that Trump and Vance are shitty people doing shitty things, they must also pretend that Zelensky very gently pushing back on Trump & Vance's lies and efforts to humiliate him is enough that Zelensky and Ukraine deserve the shitty things that Trump and Vance do.

Start by admitting that this is Putin’s war. Putin invaded Ukraine and can stop the war at any time by leaving Ukraine. Full stop. No ifs, ands, or buts.

If we can’t agree on that simple premise there is no need for further discussion.

I wish the Biden administration would have pushed through a tax credit for up to $500 per person for contributing to a Ukrainian defense fund.

That would have allowed people to opt in/out and cut the future Trump administration out of the loop.

At least it would make congress proactively pass legislation to reverse it.

The way to really burn Trump is to start a monthly crowdfunding campaign, to be called one million Americans for Ukraine at for instance $25 a month per person. I bet it would balloon well beyond a million people and raise quite a sum of money to go directly to Ukraine to produce their own weapons or whatever.

And considering he likes to talk to the press, he would get a question on it every month when the new numbers of Americans signed up comes out. Every time he does stupid stuff, the number of folks would go up.
