An educated populace does not bode well for MAGA Republicans. Free thinking is bad.

China didn't care about the environment.... until their cities became among the most polluted in the world. These Republicans will not do anything unless something forces them to do so. Unfortunately some things cannot be undone.

The more China invests in STEM the more "security" is installed. Just wait and see what happens with the educational system under MAGA.

“It definitely will lead to a revolution,” says Kejian Wang, a geneticist at the China National Rice Research Institute in Hangzhou, who is working on separate apomixis experiments.

Koltunow says her work promises to give smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa access to affordable high-yielding sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) crops. Those farmers could save the clonal seeds to sow for several years, further reducing costs. These are some of the reasons that Koltunow’s research is supported by the Gates Foundation, a charity in Seattle, Washington.

Ants are known for their complex societies, but the group deserves to be just as famous among animals for their often strange and unconventional reproductive strategies. Writing in Nature, Juvé et al. provide evidence that this weirdness reaches unexpected heights in the Iberian harvester ant (Messor ibericus). The authors report that this species has hijacked the genome of another ant species to produce worker ants. Rather than risk depending on a population of this other species to achieve their reproductive goals, M. ibericus queen ants have gained the remarkable ability to produce two types of male offspring: males of their own species and ones that are, genetically speaking, members of a distinct species.

One mother for two species via obligate cross-species cloning in ants - Nature

In a case of obligate cross-species cloning, female ants of Messor ibericus need to clone males of Messor structor to obtain sperm for producing the worker caste, resulting in males from the same mother having distinct genomes and morphologies.
