LOL. Trump accusing anyone of grifting and stealing money is beyond rich. If there is something he's world-class at other than lying and stupidity, it's grifting.

FTR, the way those types of disclosures work, she actually disclosed a net worth of between $6 - $30 million. When you look at the details, it is mostly due to her husband’s (Tim Mynett) business. He left a partnership at a large political consulting firm to start his own firm not long after they married. His firm started with little value (about $51,000 in her 2023 disclosures) but is listed as worth between $5 - $25 million now.LOL. Not to derail again but this type of policy passage is an example of what I meant- and what I did a poor job of articulating yesterday- about it being a huge problem that our Congress is so geriatric. All those 65 and over working families with young children will be very appreciative, I'm sure!
Happy to start a different thread if anyone wants. Don't mean to derail this one.

the available details are being distorted by Trump and others.
That’s all true, but $75,000-$150,000 could very easily be non-W2 retirement income from someone with an investment portfolio of ~$1.8M to ~$3.8M assuming a ~4% withdrawal rate. I just figure that if we are going to hand out $100B in tax breaks it should probably be for actual working families who are squeezed hard by housing costs, childcare costs, elevated grocery costs, etc.Not every senior gets a full $6000 deduction. There is a phase out beginning at a MAGI of 75k for singles and 150k for couples.
So millionaires will not be getting a full $6000 deduction and many will receive no benefit at all, and that is a good thing. Moreover the deduction expires in 2028 so if those under 65yo are concerned, then join me and other Boomers and vote for a Congress that will modify and target the deduction to lower income seniors only.
But you make a good point and I think the concerns you have been posting ( and with no need for apology I might add ) deserve a separate thread for us to become more aware of how and why politicians are appealing to those groups that turn out and vote and ignore the nonvoting groups that do not turn out and vote.
I doubt my parents annual income is close to $150K. Their net worth is north of $2.5 million. Not every senior gets a full $6000 deduction. There is a phase out beginning at a MAGI of 75k for singles and 150k for couples.
