As I've said before, this is a terrible idea. With a cap that low, millions will lose their credit cards. People will shift to other types of credit, not all of it formal.

It's incredible how politicians fail to grasp the basic rules of competition and price controls.

He is just feeding the MAGAts. They will believe anything Dear Leader says. OTOH idea might be an easy sell in Congress. where the heat is on for some. Issuers have been pigging out for way too long. What happened to usury laws...haven't hear that term in decades.

Like a true blowhard, Trump feels that he is an expert on everything under the sun. Football, tariffs, the fine arts, movies, foreign policy, interior and exterior decoration, military strategy - there is simply nothing at which Trump is not the world's leading expert, just like the blowhard drunk who sits at the end of the bar and bloviates his brilliant opinions on everything to everyone at the bar. The difference, of course, is that Trump is the freaking POTUS and thus is actually making policy and has the full force of government at his command. What a time to be alive.
