Should Biden step aside and make Harris the first female POTUS?

I am torn. Not really the way I would want to arrive at a female president but part of me thinks it would be a good symbolic statement. Another part of me says the symbolism would be a negative.

It would help Trump as MAGA would have to scrap their 45-47 hats and buy 45-48 hats.

I have no opinion on this one way or the other but I did note that in his post election speech, Biden appeared as lucid & luminous as he had in a while. The stress was clearly getting to him.

And that sparked another immediate thought. What will Trump look & sound like in four years.

God help us.
 
If this were to happen before Congress certifies the election........uh, who presides?
 
Y’all still don’t get it lol. Nobody cares about these identity politics milestones; especially when they are so obviously forced as this would be. The middle of the political spectrum just delivered this message loud & clear at the ballot box.

Biden has two months left as president and he hasn’t been mentally fit to be president for the 3 years and 10 months he has already served. He should finish out his term and then the Democrats should focus on nominating the best candidate based on merit in 2028. Not nominating somebody because of race or gender.

You mean the first female president should be the person who just got skunked in the election? I’ll pass.
 
OP: no. This idea shouldn't even be considered and would be seen as weak sauce political gamesmanship. It would also cheapen the significance of a female PoC attaining the highest office in the land on her own merit, if and when it finally happens.

MAGA won and Dems lost - for the 2nd time now - when it should have overwhelmingly been a slam dunk the other way. It's the sequel to 2016: 2016 Part Deux!

This election was going to be the death knell for one of the parties, and if you can't win with 1) a billion dollars and 2) objective reality (what we used to call "the facts" or "the truth") on your side, for the second time, you've got a gigantic problem.

So, it is now time for the current Democratic Party to die (figuratively) and be reborn.

Yes. As people with cognitive impairments further decline, their underlying character tends to almost completely take over. Any impulse control/application of executive function fades any.

Ttump is the most revanchist and overtly rhetorically violent American president or candidate since, at minimum, George Wallace. I don’t think Trump will be publicly presentable within two years, but in that two years the worst or his already horrific impulses will come to light.

I don’t understand the question. What is accomplished by Biden stepping aside? What’s the value?

I thought the same thing. I also think there’s less stress now that he’s free from the Obama/Pelosi ruling cabal. He can return to being the Biden he was in the Senate.
