While I think there is some overlap between wokeness and DEI, I definitely don't see them as the same.

Wokeness being the belief that any inequality between you (some combination of trans, gay, female and of color) and a cis, straight, white male is explained by the racism, bigotry or misogyny of the cis, white straight male.

The D in DEI is the solution for the above perceived issue. You are intentionally hiring and promoting people who aren't cis, straight, white males.
Your definition of "wokeness" is fucking idiotic. And it explains a lot about you as a person.

there's something so perfect that the same people willing to upend the global order and destroy democracy because of wokeness and DEI don't even know what the terms mean
CRT, DEI, woke.....the right wing fever swamp nerve center really knows how to repackage these things and turn them into ultimate bogeymen.

the oligarchs and the heritage foundation goons, etc. etc. are all laughing wildly while they rob all of us blind.

On another thread it was mentioned that the NFL is changing the message on the field since the Snowflake in Chief will be in attendance..

I know someone is going through Kendrick Lamar’s halftime set with a fine tooth comb to make sure he doesn’t debut a Trump diss track.

that would be wild. absolute cinema.

but i bet that his contract stipulates that he sticks to the hits.

yet we'll have 800 page threads on how he NYT hasn't had enough Iowa diner research to understand the plight and perspectives of rural whites or how the Dems look down on morons. These people have been played for the fools they are by the ruling class but about a third of left voters have convinced themselves that this somehow reflects a Dem failure to connect or communicate. Not the intentional Republican/Russian manipulation of people incapable of the most basic critical reasoning that democracy requires.

"trickle down economics work! and look over there at those homos and abortions and brown people! its outrageous!"

done and dusted.

Is the D in DEI not about bringing in more people of color, homosexual, trans and female rather than cis, white, straight males?
What does that have to do with this sentence that you wrote:

"Wokeness being the belief that any inequality between you (some combination of trans, gay, female and of color) and a cis, straight, white male is explained by the racism, bigotry or misogyny of the cis, white straight male."

Those two aren't remotely the same thing, so even if you interpret the D in your weird fashion (one would think a college sports fan would be able to comprehend the difference between recruiting and quotas, but anyway), it's still nowhere near justifying what you wrote.

If you take it out of context, it probably doesn't make much sense. I explained what I meant, which is that DEI is a so-called fix for The perceived issues that are the basis for weakness.

“…a view that there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to have policies that address them.”

- Ron DeSantis’s attorney in court when asked by a judge to define “woke.”

I agree that there is "a view".....

"A view" is just another way of saying an opinion and I agree that many people have an opinion that there are systems that people "view" as racist or discriminatory.

Though the civil rights movement was focused on advancing equality for Black people, they did so through an inclusive message that sought to uplift all marginalized groups, including poor white people. The March on Washington was called the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom for a reason.

Civil rights organizers knew the way to tackle systemic racial inequality in this country was through advancing economic justice for everyone. This is how to build a broad enough coalition to pass meaningful change as they did. They understood that economic domination girded racial domination.

The modern “woke” movement, on the other hand, seeks to address racial disparities at the individual level rather than the societal level. They say: If we can just get enough white people to acknowledge their “white fragility”, then that will advance racial equality. This sort of individual moralizing does not work, and civil rights leaders like Bayard Rustin stood in direct opposition to this sort of outlook.

Wokeism has done very little to dismantle racial inequities in this country, and it seems to have meaningfully contributed to putting Trump back in the WH. As a political movement, it has failed to produce its desired outcome.

All of super’s points about solidarity in this country are correct. My historical area of study is antebellum American history, so I’m quite aware of this. Very few serious leftists think that the work of creating cross-race solidarity is easy anywhere, let alone in this country.

But, what do you think is more effective in building a cross-race working class coalition in this country: telling white people that they are innately racist because they’re white or convincing poor and working white people that their economic advancement is innately linked to that of poor and working minorities?IMG_8680.jpeg
Fantastic post and I agree with all of it. Well done.

“… In the wake of Trump’s executive order shuttering diversity, equity and inclusion programs at federal agencies, Bondi said the Justice Department “must thoroughly evaluate consent decrees, settlement agreements, litigation positions (including those set forth in amicus briefs), grants or similar funding mechanisms, procurements, internal policies and guidance, and contracting arrangements.”

“There is no place in these materials for race- or sex-based preferences, diversity hiring targets, or preferential treatment based on DEI- or DEIA-related criteria,” she wrote.

Bondi also ordered Justice Department entitiesto submit reports by March 15 confirming the elimination of DEI and “environmental justice” programs, as well as identifying any federal contractors who have provided DEI training or materials to any department employees since Trump took office. …”

Trump announces task force to ‘eradicate anti-Christian bias’

"... President Trump announced plans Thursday to establish a task force and a presidential commission to protect Christians from religious discrimination.

... “While I’m in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals and in our public squares,” he said. “And we will bring our country back together as one nation under God.”

... The president also said he would sign an executive order to make Attorney General Pam Bondi the head of a task force to “eradicate anti-Christian bias.”

The task force will aim to stop “all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government,” Trump said.

... He also said he would create a White House Faith Office, led by Rev. Paula White, who has served as a religious adviser to Trump for several years. ..."

Control over payments, control over media, control over religion, control over the guns. How long until they redesign military uniforms to include a custom symbol/homage to don?

I have young friend that is in a Masters program at Unc-Raleigh. To be a School Counselor (higher ed). To be accredited the curriculum must be focused on Cultural Competency. She wonders if this will all blow up with Bergernazi in charge of UNC

I'd say very likely. We're just at the beginning stages of all this, I'm sure that as we move along deeper into Trump 2.0 that there will be ever more aggressive efforts to root out DEI and pro-diversity programs quite literally everywhere. Conservatives are really feeling their oats right now, so far there has been virtually no pushback from Congress (nor is there likely to be with Republicans in charge), and so they've realized that no one can stop them other than the courts, and all they have to do is to appeal it to the Supremes and they'll likely get a favorable review, or they will likely just start ignoring court orders, as Elon is apparently already doing with continuing his efforts to force federal employees to quit despite a court order to stop. It's exactly what many people here predicted - an administration with no guardrails and no safeguards.
