SOTU 2026

I'm gonna pass on this one, thus missing my first SOTU since as far back as I can remember. I have better things to do with my time than be gaslit and lied to by the most divisive and embarrassing president in US history. I will, however, happily watch the response on YouTube when I get around to it. This country is not what it used to be. How unfortunate for all of us.

The White House keeps saying this, speech after speech, event after event. And Trump gets bored with the economic message and begins to weave about the things that actually animate him instead.

Yep, Trump doesn’t give a shit about what is actually happening with the economy. He just says it’s the best it’s ever been (as long as he’s president) and moves on to something else.
 
The only thing I'm interested in is what the Democrats do - i know a bunch have said they aren't going - I wonder if some will go and either make a big show of protest or just get up and walk out just as it's starting

IMO, the best thing they could do is not go, or if they do go, to not make a sound. Project "we show up because we represent the people" but not play into the performative bullshit. When a child is having a temper tantrum or is being melodramatic, or a message board troll belabors a point just because that's their character pathology, the best thing to do is not to feed the appetite for attention.
