He averages 3.3 TOs a game against 6 assists. He should probably be at 2.5 or so. But even at 6.0 vs 3.3, he is 16th in the ACC in assist to TO ratio (RJ is 6th at 2.4). So Elliot does have a TO problem, but he is not at 4 a game and we shouldn't overstate it.

(FYI -- he was 4.1 against 1.8 last year, so he committed significantly fewer TOs when he had a big that could catch passes with regularity).
He seems to be regressing though. His last 12 games he's averaged 3.7 TO's per game with 8 of those 12 games having 4 or more TO's. That's not going to cut it. I like Cadeau and he does things with the basketball that nobody else on our team can, but his recent play isn't good enough imo.

yeah, i also think that he's probably feeling a little more pressure to make things happen this season than last season with our offense being pretty anemic at times. some of the passes are just clearly way too reckless turnovers in the making that you can see coming from a mile away.

Shut it. It was kind of him to treat what you thought was a backhanded slap against Hubert as a normal comment. We know you hate he 's the coach. You always have and you never miss a chance to cast aspersions on him. He might have missed the point but it's at least as likely that, like a lot of us , he's just tired of all you cheap shit comments.

I thought a Final Four run was a good reason to keep a coach.
A FF... and shortly thereafter 29 W's, Reg Season Championship ,a #1 seed, & COY honors... I doubt Keatts pulls that off. We shall see. He's in the same season Hubert was a year removed from that FF. Now, if Keatts wins 29 games and wins the reg season and gets a #1 seed next season - we can compare the apples to apples.

Elliot wasn’t making this many turnovers (and particularly poor ones) as a freshman. Adding an offensive big or two would solve a lot of them

It does seem like there are more miscommunications happening and home run types that he probably wouldn’t have attempted as a freshman

Given the bump in 3p%, if he comes back next season with a semi-reliable mid-range he will be a problem. The player and aspect of next season I’m least concerned with

No, this team is no where near good enough to "coast"... But come on Bill... have you never been on a team (or coached a team) who was way, way ahead at half-time only to let the foot off the gas just a tad... just a bit in the second half? And the losing team makes an adjustment or two and gets a fire lit under them from their coach, and they come out in the 2nd half guns blazing to try to flip the script? State is not very good this year either, but they too have D1 players on their team. This wasn't some mid-major.

I can recall several times as a coach in H.S. (and in Jr. High.) at halftime when we were up big, imploring, begging the players to "pretend" that the score is just 0-0 and that we need to come out with the same intensity and "win" the 2nd half... almost never happened. The only times it did happen was when we were playing a completely over-matched, young, lower level team (think 4A playing a 3A pre-season game) when even our 2nd team could still run the score up on the poor opponent.
Yes, I completely get that. This team has put themselves behind the 8-ball, though, and I had hoped to see a greater sense of urgency. It seemed to be there in the first half, so glass half full??

I have not always hated him as the coach. I just think consistency is important. That was my point.

It 100% is. I don’t recall one being fired after one.
Do you mean within a year after reaching the Final Four, or within a few years? (And I know you mean being fired based on performance vs . misconduct/rules violations.)

I don’t know of any coach who was fired within a year of reaching the FF, but Ben Howland went to three Finals Fours in a row at UCLA and got fired five years after the last one.

He also got fired after winning the Pac-12 regular season title.

I've always wondered if he has a special place of hate in his heart for Florida, since his first 2 F4s were during their run.

I was thinking last night that it was a truly pyrrhic victory for them in the Tournament last year.
Before last year, it had been 37 years since they won the ACC title, 41 years since they made the Final 4, and even 9 years since they'd made the Sweet 16.

I think they'll take their victories however they can get them.

I think as this season hasn't gone so well, he's pressing trying to make things happen to help us win. I think RJ's doing the same thing with regard to shooting/dominating the ball, both to the detriment of their overall performance.

It's admirable to see players try to step up, but it doesn't necessarily help if they're trying to play beyond their abilities.

Within a year or so.

The UConn guy got the axe a few years after a title I believe.

This year is such a blur for me, I didn't even realize the game was yesterday. Thankfully we won.
