Stephen A Smith is a clown

In think Bronny’s G-League numbers pretty much justify using the 55th pick on him. Not many 55’s are doing anything in the NBA.
Not many 55’s get called up when they don’t deserve it, stay with the NBA team when they don’t deserve it, get minutes with the NBA team when they dont deserve it, and don’t have to travel to away games when they actually are down in the G League where (maybe?) they belong, but instead get to sleep in daddy’s mansion and have a driver escort them to the game while the rest of the team rolls back in on the bus from Santa Cruz or a coach flight from buttfuck Wisconsin.

Can’t think of many 55’s with that type of situation but I could be overlooking some.

What? All he said is that Bronny wouldn't be with the Lakers without LeBron as his dad.

Yes it’s a very unique situation.

Uh yeah. He said Lebron was a bad father for putting his son on the Lakers. He’s lucky Lebron didn’t beat his ass.

I can’t find a source on the Google that supports this claim. Do you have a link of SAS calling him a bad father? If not that exactly, is this statement what you are objecting to?:

“We all know Bronny is in the NBA because of his dad.”

As for the SAS situation…LeBron is definitely giving him what he wants.
Smith definitely loves LeBron even talking about it and LeBron recognizes that and shouldn't do it. It's just going to keep the story going and give Smith more attention.

I can also empathize with a father not wanting some commentator talking negatively about my son who's trying to fulfill his life goals. I'm sure the negativity could get to a 20 year old. Other rookies have to go through it but that doesn't mean the dad has to like it.

This is all a staged ploy to boost SAS' political profile.

"He stood up to Lebron, he'll stand up to anyone"

SAS is a very rich clown. Seriously -- he figured out sooner than most the secret of success: attention. And the other secret of success, which is that sports analysis is not really journalism but entertainment. It doesn't matter what he says so much as how he says it. He has his SAS spiel now -- starts softly, says things like "let's talk seriously now" and works himself up until he's loud Stephen A at the end and it IS entertaining.

SAS is an entertainer. All sports analysts are. How much of Inside the NBA is actually about the game, and how much is really about the banter and personality interaction between the hosts. That's why they don't bring analytics guys on the show.

He pleaded with him as a father to stop. That’s the closest I could find.

. But lebron has also been a total idiot his entire life, completely lacking self-awareness and having nobody, nobody around him who has ever told him “no.”
You couldn't be more wrong. Lebron is extremely intelligent. On the basketball court, he's got an Einstein level BBall IQ. Off the court, he's done very well for himself. His career has unfolded the way he wanted it; all his choices worked out for him; and he is surely the most financially successful American team-sport athlete of all time. Well, maybe not any more, with salaries in MLB going gonzo. But certainly Lebron is at the top of the charts for sports with salary caps. Not just on the field, but off the field as well.

Yeah, that’s a little much. Just give your opinion and leave it at that. I mean, there are hundreds of other broadcasters and they are all saying the same thing (outside of the “I’m pleading with you as a father.” That’s a little much.

Not surprisingly tone deaf here. I’m talking about self-awareness, which, as much as you may know, and as much more as you may think you know… you don’t know much about that.

Lebron has lived in a “yes” world his entire life and when he hears “no” he unravels and attacks. Sound like any current presidents of the US to you? That kind of life surrounded by kid-gloves treatment inspires animosity for anyone who doesn’t offer it up. This has NOTHING to do with lebron protecting his son. It has EVERYTHING to do with lebron protecting his vanity, legacy, and ego.

If he were a self-aware and emotionally intelligent father who actually gave a shit about his son’s well being instead of his own make-a-wish, he’d have made his son earn it like everyone else.

So you’re sure LeBron doesn’t want what’s best for his son?

That's not what he said at all. He actually said the EXACT opposite.

"That's all I'm saying with LeBron. The best of intentions, wonderful father by all accounts. I'm not casting any aspersions on him. I'm saying, that's your son, bro. You know the game of basketball. He ain't ready yet. Why put him in that position? You had your moment being on the court with him. Now that kid's got to go earn his stripes, which I believe he will do."

I have questions about the self-awareness of a post that infers that a father doesn't "gives a shit" about his son's well being without having ever met him, inferring a negative personality trait from a couple of public appearances. And I also question the self-awareness of a post that claims to know that Lebron is doing his son a disservice by not "making him earn it like everyone else." It's not clear to me that's a disservice; it's not clear to me that Bronny hasn't earned it (note: whether Bronny deserves it is a different question entirely than whether he earned it); it's not clear that Bron or Bronny have ever had issues.

From my perspective, Bron wanting to play with his son speaks to fatherly attachment, not self-detachment. He took a pay cut so Bronny's contract didn't cost the Lakers anything. That Bron follows his sons' careers and undoubtedly gives advice, helps teach, offers support etc is a lot more than one can say about a lot of other NBA stars, including MJ.

As far as Lebon unraveling and attacking when he hears no, I mean, what the hell are you talking about?

Bron has been hearing no his whole career -- mostly from haters among fans who have irrational issues with him. Listen to his speech after winning the NBA title. He's basically like, "fuck the haters, I realized my dream and I didn't grow up with privilege" And that is entirely fair.

Exactly. LeBron made it personal when it wasn't.

I’ve learned that’s it’s best not to give parenting advice about other people’s kids. That’s probably multipled when doing it on a national stage.

SAS overstepped and LeBron predictably took the bait.

Respectfully disagree. LeBron is in the public eye. HE pulled the strings that placed Bronny squarely under the bright lights of LeBron's own spotlight. There are negatives to the pro athlete lifestyle... SAS didn't say anything untrue or out of bounds.

I think Bronny is fair game. I don’t think LeBron’s parenting is, but nothing seems to be off limit these days.

If you talk smack about my parenting don’t be offended if I call you out on it.
