Yeah, that was a hell of a performance/show. I’ve never really listened to Bad Bunny and I cannot say I’m a fan of his music (though I do love a lot of Latin music and Cuban jazz, so there were parts of the musical aspect I appreciated, particularly when they brought out he horns), but the presentation was a blast.

Super Bowl ads have been awful for a long time. They rely too heavily on celebrity appearances and pop culture references, but otherwise have no meat too them.

Booking a halftime musician with 114 billion Spotify streams and fresh off 6 Grammy nominations and 3 Grammy wins, including Album of the Year is divisive? The guy preaching love and togetherness ("Together, we are America," "The only thing more powerful than hate is love") during the performance was divisive?

I'd train my sights on the culture warriors telling people there is reason to be outraged.

I'm no Bad Bunny fan, couldn't tell you a single song, but this is a silly "controversy." The messages of division are coming from exactly one group of people.

The people calling it divisive are those that think America is a white, Christian, English-mandatory nation. OR, they know it isn't and that's what they want.

They also probably love to go out for Taco Tuesday and don't see the hypocrisy

Wow, you do realize there is an entire spectrum of wonderful music outside of what appears to be your limited exposure.

What do you consider music? That was great music, great beat, easy to listen to, etc.


And this isn't dividing the country. The maga idiots that didn't know Puerto Rico is a territory, that the artist is a citizen, and that most other countries speak multiple languages are the division. They are so scared of any person that isn't just like them that they can't enjoy the diversity in life.

Exactly my thoughts. It is only divisive if we let it / want it to be. Honestly, I haven't liked the last few halftime shows, but I'm not getting all over social media bitching moaning about it. I just didn't watch. Those shows featured extremely popular acts that I don't particularly like. It is as simple as that. The division starts when people start claiming that the show is somehow morally inferior or un-American. Folks who don't like the show should certainly tune in to something else, but damn, STFU about how much you hate it and how un-American it is. I mean, people have sped past "grumpy old man" status straight to hateful bigot.

Incidentally, I don't know much about Bad Bunny, so I sampled some of his stuff on Spotify and I didn't really care for it. But damn, the halftime show was great. I enjoyed the Latin music and the show - the wedding, the trees, the street scene and presentation of the Grammy.

I don’t think people would see it as divisive except they were told it would be divisive. I didn’t see anything divisive in the actual performance, just in the MAGAs declaring it to be divisive long before the Super Bowl was even played.
