As 5 or 6 million Americans in the United States boycotted the Super Bowl half-time show because they feared that hearing Spanish might somehow cause them harm while mistakenly (Ignorantly? Willfully?) protested that a foreigner was doing the entertaining (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio is from Puerto Rico, a part of the USA since 1898 where they are US citizens) another 125 million joined together to celebrate historical common ground. Stage named Bad Bunny, Martínez Ocasio, is a global superstar and not only from the United States but also from Latin America. Seeing the flags of the Americas on display as he performed “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” and hearing his count-off of the names of those nations (as well as his home Puerto Rico), including The United States and Canada signaled a unity — not one of imperial land-grabbing by the Colossus of the North but rather one of formerly colonized people who have in their heritage the first movements toward constitutional democratic republicanism in modern history.

Sorry I still don't get it and I don't know any Hispanic that watches the NFL, but I'm isolated in Chatham Co. I would think the Hispanic population that does watch the NFL is very small overall. It was an entertaining performance, but I wouldn't consider it music. It's just something else to divide our country even more and by the looks of it this morning that's exactly what it is doing.
Lee Brice performed a new song called “Country Nowadays” at the TPUSA halftime show that starts with the lyrics “I just wanna catch my fish, drive my truck, drink my beer” and gets worse from there. I cannot overstate how dreadful it is, like a MadLibs country song by someone who hates country music.
I don’t enjoy Bad Bunny’s music but he’s absolutely out of these clowns’ league.
The NFL is a business and doesn’t care at all if they unite the country or not. I’m quite sure they love the controversy. They’ve noted what you have- that Hispanics are a large demographic and don’t watch the NFL- and are now trying to fix that by doing things like having Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl. The NFL only wants to make as much money as possible by capturing as many eyeballs as possible. Welcome to capitalism!

I'm from Chatham County and visit frequently while maintaining ties and roots there. I'm not sure about Hispanic NFL viewing there at present but I'll see what I can find out about the sports allegiances that that sizable percentage of the local population might be carrying on with in these times. One of the places I now live though Is NYC and I can guarantee that there are beaucoup NFL fans with Hispanic/Latin American heritage here.
One clue might be the roster of the Jordan Matthews Jets Football team for this past season:

How was that divisive? If that’s divisive, then what isn’t divisive?
The NFL is becoming more and more popular among the Hispanic population, but you also don’t have to be Hispanic to enjoy slices of Latin culture or Latin-inspired entertainment. You ever been to a Mexican restaurant? Whether or not you like Bad Bunny, you think it’s a just the Hispanic population that’s responsible for his popularity? Do you have to be part of a certain demographic to enjoy music or appreciate the culture that comes from or is inspired by that demographic?
My teenage niece, who I watched the Super Bowl with last night and is definitely not Hispanic, was incredibly excited about the Bad Bunny performance. I imagine there are millions more like her.
