Looking forward to our one remaining MAGA poster to explain why this is actually good news.
They are all truly the enormous pussies we all knew and said they were all along. We know they read the board every day even though they are too chickenshit to post. Great job getting cucked by an obese dude who wears makeup, diapers, and girdles, you unbelievably stupid fucks! Go ahead and start learning Mandarin you dipshits. You ceded the entire globe to China all because somebody somewhere out there put a pronoun in their email signature.

It's ok news for those heavy in cash like me and, checking my "widow and orphan" stocks, it's a very good day today.

For those who hitched their investments to the Trump wagon ? not so much today...

A few questions for the original poster:

1. Have you ever worked in a management role for a US business that derives a meaningful portion of its sales from exports?
2. Have you ever had to make sourcing decisions and the logistics therein that involve international suppliers?
3. Have you ever had to hedge currency or receivables risk on behalf of your employer?

I've done all three. Unless you have as well, I don't think you have a good sense of the whirlwind that's about to be reaped.

My guess is that you'll argue that US businesses should near-shore 1 and 2, thereby making 3 moot. Two problems with that. It materially affects growth, and, rather than invest in US suppliers, it's easier for decision-makers to accept lower growth, reduce investment, and sit on the sidelines until all the bullshit dies down. At least that's how I expect my board to advise me.

Back in the 80's early 90s I had a need for Vans-3 kids etc.. I purchased 3 American made vans and none of them lasted 80,000 miles.Pieces of junk.
So I have not puchased an American Brand since Now I suppose my Toyota purchases (1 Corrolla, 2 Rav IVs ) have all been made in American-I don't really know?
My family had a Dodge Caravan in the late 1990s, total POS. Constant small issues that at first were kind of amusing… one day randomly the clock started flashing in time with the turn signal. The radio knobs fell off, the plastic on the arm rests came unglued during the summer.

Eventually it broke down in BFE Georgia on the way back from seeing family and they got rid of it shortly thereafter. That was the first and last non-Toyota my parents ever bought.

I’ve been saying a variation of this for weeks. This is a structured destruction of the US socioeconomic institutions, relationships, policies, and norms. The intent is to collapse wealth for all but the few, as a means to further consolidate industry, economic, and social power, while driving hundreds of millions into the waiting arms of “benevolent billionaires”. Theocracy is there as well, but they’ve just latched onto the coattails of authoritarian kleptocracy.

I've always wondered how many bankruptcies he would have had if Russians hadn't bought something from him at inflated prices? I believe there may have been an instance or two.

That's why the family business turned to licensing 30 years ago. That's a business that even a nitwit and his nitwit progeny can't screw up.

I know we're all beating a dead horse at this point (one that's becoming deader by the day, sadly), but this is just the Orbanization of America. It was pretty obvious when CPAC took its Eastern European Vacation, but MAGA, in its limitless foolishness, has decided they'd rather live in a country like Hungary, with a GDP per capita just above Trinidad and Tobago, than in the most prosperous country in the history of the world, but one in which a dick might occasionally make an appearance in a ladies room.

Is any of this something that can be fixed by a great Dem performance in the midterms next fall or is this something that we are going to have to endure until 2029?

Correct. I still find myself unreasonably incensed at all the Forbes, NYT, and Bloomberg type articles that argue these decisions on economic merits. All those publications are doing is contributing to the misinformation.
