I don't think so. But that was around 4:30am. As others have noted. it bounced back a good bit. We will see where it opens.

European car manufacturers are putting a temporary hold on car shipments to us. In fact, Audi has a ship waiting, and will keep on wait I guess at the port or off coast, for awhile.
Yeah, CNBC’s implied open looked to to be off which is what I was referencing.

Dow opens -1200. Already down to -1500
American has enjoyed immense benefits from being the hub of the global economy for decades, but the power to control includes the power to destroy. So while we're all rightly focused on Trump's Thanos-like destruction of America, let's not ignore what he's doing to the rest of the world as well. Asian markets today, for example --

Nikkei 225 (Japan) -- down 7.83%
Hang Seng (Hong Kong) -- down 13.22%
Shanghai Composite (China) -- down 7.34%
Shenzhen Composite (China) -- down 9.66%
S&P/ASX 200 (Australia) -- down 4.23%
KOSPI (South Korea) -- down 5.57%
Taiwan SE -- down 9.70%
Bombay Sensex (India) -- down 2.95%

All of this is catastrophic for global stability and, thus, our national security.

After bragging about Vietnam (Nike manufacturing) crawling to Master Trump to concede, Peter Navarro now says their offer of 0% tariffs on U.S. goods is not enough.

“We have a country to save,” is never explained.

I feel like taking a baseball bat to the car of anyone offering that as a reason (or when they merely offer cliches like “Gotta break a few eggs…”) and telling them I’m saving the country. What’s the difference in logic?

CNN has an article on freaking Jamie Dimon now saying the tariffs are bad. Dude was all about them in January telling folks to "get over it."

Another simpleton who didn't listen to what Trump said and just had dreams he would be milder...
Honestly that we didn't execute him and the rest of his ilk after 2008, or at least go after their personal fortunes and leave them destitute, was a mistake.

He should be wearing a barrel begging for change, not on TV. Definitely not *still* heading a company he nearly destroyed with catastrophic consequences for everyone who was doing business with him.

It's absolute nonsense. Here's the best analogy I can think of to what Trump is doing right now.

Johnny works at ACME Co. By all economic measures, ACME is doing great. Profits are at an all-time high. It's hiring talented new employees. It has a significant competitive advantage over its peer companies. But Johnny is not happy. He's ticked off that the Snickers in the break room vending machine just went from $1 to $1.25. He's ticked off that the guy in the cubicle next to him was born in India and eats curry for lunch. And he's REALLY ticked off that ACME changed one of the mostly-unused men's restrooms into a restroom that could be used by either men or women. So Johnny decides things need to change, and the only way to bring about that change is to murder every single person who works for ACME and take control of the company himself. When the first responders arrive on the scene to find Johnny sitting behind the desk in the CEO's office, Johnny tells them, "I get that all those people I killed are suffering in the short term, but this needed to happen for the long term health of the company. You just have to trust me on that."

So we've spent the last 3 months losing the trust of our most important economic partners, destroying the investment market, blasting our way towards an entirely unavoidable recession, and undoing the last two years of insufferably high, inflation-fighting interest rates by slapping massive tariffs on everything.

How the fuck are there still Trump supporters? I understand why a wealth tax on ultra rich people isn't great economic policy, but I'm having trouble imagining it'd be as dramatically bad as this. For one thing, I don't think it would have ever passed even a moderately left-wing Congress. Secondly, a wealth tax doesn't piss off our economic allies.

I genuinely don't get the vision. Autarky? Stupid. Pulling low-wage manufacturing jobs from Asia? Why would you want to? Not to mention the calculus for these specific tariffs doesn't make any sense from either of those perspectives. It's just economic illiteracy.

What the fuck are we doing here? And where the fuck are all of the Trump tip suckers on this board? Get the fuck out here and defend this shit you cowards.

Markets are in the positive now. Not sure of what news precipitated this or people are buying at what they think are the lows.

Part of me thinks the whole tariff BS is to at least to some degree market manipulation and those in the know around the admin are making or will make a killing.
