The ladies who clean our house (a pair of middle-aged sisters) sent us a text today that they wouldn’t be coming tomorrow because the immigration situation is tense and they are afraid to go out into the city. That’s gotta be really hard on them because if they don’t work they don’t make money.

I would like to pay them anyway but I always give them cash and they don’t have Venmo or Zelle as far as I know. It looks like my lazy ass is gonna have to clean my own house this week!

What's really telling about all this crap is that in NC they're clearly targeting only blue-voting cities like Charlotte and Asheville. I seriously doubt they'll be raiding, say, the Tyson Poultry plant up in Wilkesboro for illegal workers, or some furniture plants in Lenoir or Hickory or other MAGA-voting foothills towns. And no farms will be raided for illegal workers. Just larger blue-voting cities will be targeted and people - including legal citizens - will be harassed, intimidated, bullied, and abruptly arrested and detained for however long with little to no legal representation. Just disgusting and oh-so-authoritarian.

Take it from me, the house can go a week without being cleaned!

I just received this from the company that services my lawn:

“Good Morning,
Due to recent reports of Border Patrol and ICE conducting large-scale operations in the area, several of our employees have not been able to come to work. We do not want to place any employee at risk, as there have been instances where individuals have been detained without proper identification checks.

At this time, we are unsure when our team will be able to return to work. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your understanding.”

They also aren’t targeting criminals, which is what they claim. The CBP presence has zero impact on Charlotte’s crime rate. They aren’t policing, they are intimidating and terrorizing.

They are terrorizing communities full of good, hardworking people who contribute so much to the community at large. It’s disgusting.

I hope that as these otherwise hardworking people don’t come to work to avoid the harassment that is being directed toward them, the assholes who support Trump realize that this shit can have consequences for them too.

Karma is going to be a motherfucker for Greg Bovino.

This is like HB2 on steroids. It's absolutely idiotic for the Pubs to be picking this fight with the largest population center in a purple state less than a year before an election where the Pubs are defending a vulnerable Senate seat. Maybe they've already written it off, but this will have a significant impact nonetheless.

I think I watched about 5 or 6 clips. The first one was the one where they were pulling some guy out of the car and the rest were boring. I think if anything, these guys figured out that wearing uniforms and trying to make these arrests as peacefully and professionally as possible is the right strategy.

I don't support the immigration policy they are enforcing but I do support them acting in a professional manner.

Doubt they are boring to the people involved who are having their lives upended.

And how “professional” can they really be when violating constitutional rights?

Don’t defend or normalize/minimize this BS

My point is is just not all that terrifying despite the title of the op and the over-the-top language from the YouTube guy.
Whether their actions are unconstitutional is still a legal debate no matter what you or I believe. At this point, I don't think the vitriol should be directed at ICE. It needs to be directed at the people making the policies.
