you simply don't know what's going on. its a metrics game so that numbers can be funneled to Fox for consumption by the dolts. legal residents are being caught up in all this because of their appearance.

Well Trump says we have 25 million violent "illegals" committing rape and murder every day so I would guess at least twice that many "illegals" (aka misdemeanor undocumented brown skin people ) are here.

So I would say I really realize how many "illegals" are here... somewhere between 75 and 100 million.

My ex’s coworker said she was in the Raleigh area and ICE agents were walking around an apartment complex looking in the windows of apartments.

i know exactly whats going on i see it and deal with it everyday and i know its all for show. too many influential people getting wealthier off the backs of illegals.

like with anything there will be some innocent casualties of this partisan bullshit game

Point of order: No human being can be "illegal". Their very existence can not be illegal.Their immigration status in the US can however be illegal.

Reducing a group of tens of millions of people to a single (negative to you) characteristic is dehumanizing as fuck. The people are parents, sons, daughters, our coworkers, students, worshipers, tax payers, and members of our communities. They are saints, sinners, lovers, fighters, dreamers, assholes, heroes, and yes at times criminals. In short they are human beings exactly like you.

When you continually dehumanize this population by referring to them as "illegals" as if there is only one single characteristic about them that matters you create the conditions that support mass atrocities like concentration camps that are already rearing it's head in our modern day America (e.g. Alligator Alcatraz).

I know you're better than this. Please consider not using language that helps dehumanize tens of millions of your fellow human beings.

You and I both. My godchildren are half Mexican half white. Their mother has worked with me for 12 years and is absolutely amazing. Her family came to the US when she was 4. She is 40 now. She just became a citizen last year after years and years and years of work, attorneys, and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Her children are obviously citizens but they "look" hispanic. Natalie is 16 and just started driving. Owen is 13. ICE is across the street from their school this morning at the Catholic church and both are terrified of an interaction with them. It is taking every ounce of reservation I have not to go over there. I would most certainly be arrested.

I have three godchildren who have a Guatemalan mother (two have an Ohio-born gringo dad, the oldest does not and is considerably browner and more Guatemalan-appearing than his younger brother and sister). His mother gained her citizenship this past summer (I wrote about her naturalization ceremony here: Off-Topic - Ever Been To A Naturalization Ceremony? ). My wife's family has adopted this entire family into their own and we celebrate Christmas together and usually have an annual beach trip as well. I am worried about the mother (who is like a sister to my wife and a second mother to my daughter) as well as the kids who are like my niece and nephews. That personalizes this assault in a way that is unforgettable and unforgivable.

You're not wrong about business owners who are perfectly happy to be willfully blind towards the immigration status of their workforce, but I also think it's pretty clear that the admin's aggressive raiding tactic are chilling both legal and illegal immigrants from societal and workforce participation (not least because there are many families that are a blend of people who are here legally and people who are not).
 
I see idiots online saying why do they have anything to worry about if they are not here illegally. Just a bunch of racist dumbasses. These ICE assholes are harassing and arresting American citizens just because of their skin color. They either are stupid and don't realize what's going on or they do and don't care because they are racist and deplorable people. And even the large majority of ones that are not legally here are not criminals, but just people going to work or school. They are the ones being arrested because ICE is just stopping anyone they want that has brown skin. Do you really think the criminals are out there going to work or school?

What is she doing to protect herself and her kids? Staying inside? If not, what papers would she carry to identify herself and her kids as citizens? Has she had any interaction with ICE?

Also, is the older boy a citizen? If not, what is he doing assuming he is in the US?

All of the kids are citizens, born in the USA. She is staying inside...the two youngest are not yet in school so they are as well. The 15-year old is, I believe staying home. He's an honor roll student. The mom is working hard through social media networks to help folks out. Until recent cuts in funding she worked as an advocate for hearing impaired kids (the older kid has such challenges) and is quite an organizer.

So what did you mean in your original post when you said "them not coming to work tells you all you need to know"? If the implication of that isn't "anyone not going to work is doing so because they're here illegally" then what was it?
