Holocaust survivor among victims

Alexander Kleytman
was also among those killed, his wife Larisa Kleytman told reporters outside St Vincent’s hospital overnight.

The couple were both Holocaust survivors, and had recounted their experiences to JewishCare in 2023:

As children, both Larisa and Alexander faced the unspeakable terror of the Holocaust. Alex’s memories are particularly harrowing; the dreadful conditions in Siberia where he, along with his mother and younger brother, struggled for survival. The scars of the past, however, did not deter them from seeking a brighter future. They later made the move to Australia, immigrating from Ukraine.

Hinduism fundamentalism is very antagonistic to Christianity, as well, as they see Christianity largely as the religion of colonizers. But even when dealing with pre-colonization Christianity in India, Hindu fundamentalists view Christianity as a "foreign" religion. Christians in India are subject to abuse from Hindu fundamentalists, although on a smaller scale than Muslims largely because there are about 6x as many Muslims as Christians, leading to Muslims "fighting back" more often.

Hindu fundamentalists view on Buddhism is a little more nuanced, as Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism. In that regard, Hindu fundamentalists tend to view Buddhists as more of an "errant child" to be corrected than one to try to wipe out/remove from the country altogether. There are instances of sectarian violence against Buddhists when Buddhists refuse to be controlled by Hindu majorities.

Hindu fundamentalists also have a fairly nuanced view of Sikhs and Jains, as well, as both are native Indian, but non-Hindu, religions. As with Buddhism, there isn't the idea that these religions are "foreign invaders" as with Christianity and Islam. However, as these religions are not Hindu offshoots, they are seen as "improper" Indian religions which are not acceptable for a unified India under Hinduism. Of course, as Jains are pacifists and Sikhs only believe in violence as a last resort in self-defense, it's a bit harder to engage in mutual violence with these groups. However, there is a history of anti-Jain and anti-Sikh violence in India, although it is more common for these groups to simply abide their oppression because they are fairly numerically small and know they do not stand a great chance of benefitting from violent responses.

In short, a basic tenet of Hindu fundamentalism is that India is a Hindu country and that all "real Indians" should practice Hinduism.
Excellent additional color. I would take issue with the antagonism to Christianity, although we're speaking in such broad strokes that it's very likely we're both right because we have different specifics in mind.

I have known Indian Christians and they say they never felt persecuted, that Hindus have very different attitudes toward them than Muslims. As you know, there's lots of regional variance. They were from Goa and either Kerala or Chennai (I don't remember which). They had also lived in India in the 1990s, when Hindu fundamentalism existed but wasn't as prevalent or quite as nasty as it has become today.

What's most telling of all is that certain quadrants of the internet will fall over themselves to mention the religion of the attackers (which is fair), but will intentionally avoid any acknowledgement of the hero being Muslim as well.
Completely

I have been busy and almost entirely off offline since yesterday afternoon.

That being said.....

How many times was "Allahu Akbar" yelled during the attack?

Probably the same number of times it was yelled by the guy who threw his body into the line of fire to thwart the attack?

Well, now this sounds interesting. A Muslim risking their life to protect Jews from another Muslim has to be a first.

Leftists and Islamists are allies in their college pro Palestinian “protests” Do you watch the news? Tons of liberal white women, dressed like Arafat, chanting Islamic slogans on college campuses.
Atheists are not always "leftists."

Though admitted they are more likely to vote left because the right wing is nothing but Christo-fascists trying to shove their religion down everyone's throats.

F’ing social media. This poor guy does a heroic thing and saved lives, and now his name gets leaked and plastered around the world like a political pawn. Gotta feed the beast! And I guess he can just cross his fingers some cell or other doesn't want to make him their next target.

No good deed goes unpunished. Ask Oliver Sipple how that turned out.

Just look at the totality of that post and that signature line together. The disconnect is stunning.
If you think my post is just some kind of conspiracy theory, I will gladly make a bet with you. I'll bet you $100 that, anytime there is a terror attack at a synagogue or other primarily Jewish event/location, the perpetrator is Muslim. You take the field.

We can setup an escrow account and each put $100 in to get started. Deal?
