Damn yummy what time should we arrive?First off, based on my time living in the foothills of NC immediately following graduation, I believe the proper second person plural is "you-uns"
I'm making the turkey and pan dressing. The turkey is a family recipe made in a Reynolds oven bag with vinegar, salt, ground black pepper and parsley. Everybody seems to prefer that to the dried out usual baked turkey and it's a lot less trouble than frying turkeys. The dressing is grits cooked in chicken stock, dried cornbread, breadcrumbs, celery, onion, chopped hard boiled egg and seasonings, baked until firm and browned. It's an attempt to replicate what I watched my grandmother make when I was a child. And I'm making a cheese ball that may or may not get brought out.
The rest of the family is making a host of sides (roasted carrots, sauteed green beans, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, deviled eggs and homemade yeast rolls, pumpkin and pecan pies. Store bought gravy.
I'm going to have to show this to my wife.
Lawd hammercy! Looks incredible.
