Thanksgiving! What Yuns Making? What Yuns Doing?

Annnnnd so I’m off to take my 79-y.o. Mom and her 80-y.o. Sister out for Black Friday shopping.

Definitely NOT my idea. Thoughts and prayers accepted.
My condolences.

Haven't done that but when I was first dating my wife, my first introduction to her three sisters was when I met them at Crabtree Valley Mall to go Christmas shopping. As they started their second time around the mall after the initial scouting pass, I pulled up in front of a bookstore. I told them I was going to buy a book and would be right there on that bench when they finished. I guess you won't have that option.

My condolences.

Nope. Not an option.

When I first posted I told them let’s go. They are still fiddling around. OMG. This is going to be a day.

This is what Thanksgiving looks like for those of us who are strict vegetarians:

We tried the Gardein Stuffed "Turky" roast this time and it was surprisingly good! Some of our non-vegetarian attendees tried it and found it to be quite tasty as well.

Things went well yesterday and amazingly, we didn't have any political blowups. There was a point during the Lions game I thought we might be going off the rails, but then thank goodness the dogs started acting cute and playing together and that was the perfect distraction at the perfect time lol. Had a wonderful buzz throughout most of the day too....which never hurts 🎉

We survived. Actually, except for lines at Lululemon and the Apple Store, I’ve seen worse crowds for other weekend days. I was pretty surprised to be able to zip in and park in an primo spot easily at about 7:45 am. The Dicks Sporting Goods had been opened since 6 am and there were more staff than shoppers by a lot when I walked in. We had an 8:15 appointment at Apple Store and it was getting packed by the time we walked out before 8:45.

Traffic in the shopping center was very heavy when I pulled out around 1 pm, so maybe it was picking up over the course of the day. But otherwise surrounding roads (which are usually congested) were clear and there was none of the nightmare early morning crowds you read about.

My condolences.

Did an old guy in overalls (who happened to be a UNC luminary) sit down and share some wisdom?

That looks pretty good! Vegetarian meat substitutes have certainly come a long way since the 90s, when I was a kid. I remember Mom once tried to make veggie burgers at the time, despite us not being vegetarians, and it was an absolute disaster.

I believe you saw my post with the Thanksgiving Italiano I made (I think you liked it, If I remember, correctly). Anyhow, my ex was a long-time vegetarian. Now a pescatarian. She was over and loved what I made. The big skillet was the brodetto (Tuscan fish stew). All of what you saw there in those pics were at least seafood eater-friendly. The Swiss chard pie (savory, not sweet) was a nice touch. No seafood. And I combined green beans and casserole ingredients with it to make it like a classic Thanksgiving dish but still new. Ya'll would probably like it anytime.

Anyhow, just FYI.
