The best fast food value for your buck

This thread made me think to when I've had fast food the last time. Other than bojangles at handful of Carolina Baseball games, I cant remember the last time...several months at least. That's a real personal accomplishment for me because I used to grab fast food multiple times a week.
Not to brag...but...I haven't eaten fast food since 2016.

I was travelling today and searched for the highest rated Chick-fila in the city. 4.6 out of 5.0 stars on google. The drive through line had 30 cars when I got there but they had two guys taking orders in the 30 car line with notepads with credit card readers and I was out of there in 10 minutes at the most, very efficient. Food was about 4.6 out of 5.0.

The one near my work will have 4 people with tablets manning the drive through. It's amazing how quickly they take care of your order.

Then the Popeyes down the street will have no one in the parking lot and it will take them longer to acknowledge you at the drive through. I can never eat there again. I gave them three tries and they got my order wrong every time.

Wow, you remember Carolina Circle Mall? There was an arcade by the Ice skating rink.

Didn't they tear it down around 20 years ago?

I stopped by a Bojangles earlier this week early in the morning and got a Bo-rito. Sausage patties, Bo-rounds, scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage gravy all wrapped up in a tortilla. Nothing healthy about it but it was a lot of food and delicious for under $5.

Remember it?!! Hell, I lived there when I wasn´t at Four Seasons. Bought my first VCR at the Montgomery Wards there. Had my first Banana Margarita at the Fridays that also was near the skating rink.

I'll have to try that one day.

I grew up in the area.

Once I could drive, I spent far too much time at both of those malls.

I believe Malls in general are not aging well, but it was sad to stop at Four Seasons the last time I was in Greensboro.

I grew up across the street from 4-Seasons. My first paycheck job was at the Baskin Robbins that used to be by the main entrance upstairs. It took me 98 seconds to walk from my front door to BR. 36 seconds if it was raining. My mom would get her hair done every Friday near CCM and drop me off for hours on end while she did that and ran errands. And like you, once I had a vehicle, I spent lots of time at both.

Yes, malls are a dying breed. There is nothing at 4-Seasons to even make me interested in visiting whenever I am in town. The closest I might get to it is Daryls or the theater possibly.

My dad and I sub contracted about 50% of the HVAC at that Daryls when it was built. I'm surprised it's still there. The restaurant beside it opened around the same time and has changed names multiple times.

Lol, should I blame you then for a leaking roof at that Daryl´s in 1984 before a Phil Collins concert at the Coliseum? Dripped on three of us all dinner long, along with several other tables on the second floor. The jail was dry however. POURED that night. Getting from the car to the show we just ditched most of our clothes and bought new things there just to get dry.

As to the other location, loved it when it was a Mexican joint, but can´t remember the name now. Yeah, I ate at all of the incarnations in that location. Smokey Bones used to be good, but has dropped in quality. Ate at all of them fairly frequently in the late 70s and early 80s. Still hit Daryl´s about every other year when I am in town.

I’m at Cook out right now eating a hotdog and fries for the 4th (celebration with friends tonight). Everyone is correct. They have the best “value” for food. But quality should be factored into the equation. It’s hard to mess up a hotdog-so that is merely adequate. But the sides are horrible. Fries are below average and their hush puppies the worst I’ve ever had. So value wise they get poor marks from me.

Yeah I know all about the in-n-out from Vegas. They got their name because that shit goes in and comes straight back out. I had a few photo finishes just barely making it to the can after that stuff. Bailey's shake from O'Shea's I got with it certainly didn't help

I eat fast food on the road with my kids, because there's really no other option on a long trip.

Otherwise, I'm with you. Unless you count Subway/Jimmy Johns as fast food (I don't, because it's not super unhealthy), which I probably have once or twice a year when I need a quick eat.

My wife likes to eat fast food, especially when we go on trips. I'm the guy who brings his own food along and eats it while she eats her fast food. I do get looks from folks in the dinning area, but fuck them. We both get to eat what we like.

I would do that too, except when you're traveling with 6 kids (occasionally I will go with just my three, though that doesn't really change the considerations) there's no time to plan to bring my own food.

We don't have kids, so it is much easier for me. In my mind, I'm thinking that I would pack a few sandwiches, fruit, veggies, just in case they wanted to stop to eat, but I'm not sure if that would work or not.
