I understand you feel that way and nothing humanly achievable over the next 3 years will change your opinion.
The guy literally said on national tv today that he couldn’t care less about uniting the country and that rightwing radicals are fine because they’re good people fed up with crime whereas leftwing radicals are animals. Totally vile, and frankly, once again, impeachment worthy.

dude, your performance in this thread on wednesday was obscene.

And yet not a single word relates to me blaming a liberal for shooting CK. As I said, my comments were directed at the "celebration" of CK being shot.

I agree over the last 2 days. In fact, it has affected me to the point that I had to ask myself what the fuck am I doing getting caught up in it. I have been disgusted with most politicians on the right who have made public comments. I told my son today that if by some chance Nancy Mace is the pub nominee for governor I will have to vote for the D candidate. But I completely disagree with you that it has been that way for a while. There has been plenty to go around from the left

Biden - "We're done talking about the debate. It's time to put Trump in a bullseye"

Pelosi, Harris, Biden, Schumer - "Trump is a threat to democracy"

"Today’s political and rhetorical landscape is intensely polarized and fueled by anger, distrust and conspiracy theories. It’s easier to target your political opponents for violence if you see them as “enemies of the nation,” Boyle said." So calling republicans nazis, fascists, etc. is doing just that. How long has the left been using those terms? Since trump 1.0.

My point isn't in keeping score. Its that these past 2 days have been a wake up call for me in that the republican party and democratic party, with the assistance of social media influencers and bots have been taken over by the propensity to use violent rhetoric and the only way to stop it is by a collective effort from the everyday man/woman to reject it in social media and hold politicians accountable. I'm not hopeful.

Jan 6 was , by definition, a threat to our democracy.

What's your point? Dem parents don't fail their kids? Seriously, if that isn't it I don't get it. In this case they seemed to have failed him and are now paying a terrible price, as is the country.
Lol, i thought it was the Universities that were failing the kids.

Maga parents are less educated and teach their kids that violence and get women, racism, lgtb hate, and xenophobia are good..and that leaders troll, not lead.

Kirk was young..MAGA embraced his and TPA’s games for votes sending him down this path which ironically, created his killer from another MAGA family.

MAGA failed both of these families…and Trump doesn’t even care, look at his ballroom! Those MAGA families will continue to MAGA.

I literally said earlier that I was disgusted by what republican politicians were saying after his death. And if that is what he said and you aren't taking anything out of context and providing all of the context then I agree that it is totally vile. LOL at impeachment. Kind of the left's default. Not interested in impeachment for biden not enforcing the border and letting thousands of violent criminals enter the country though. So selective impeachment, from a lawyer no less, seems a little comical.

Well, I have not kept up with these discussions in detail, but I have some more thoughts.
Awhile ago I posed a thread that suggested that our nation's divide was less about ideology and more about knowledge. I think that even more today.
Many folks speak of Americans on opposite sides of a spectrum. And, in truth, many folks seem to perceive two competing teams, sort of like Ohio State vs Michigan. Those sorts of discussions imply some sort of ultimate parallel between the two "sides," allowing for a "plague on all your houses" response,
But I think that badly misses the point. We are a divided society but not of similar people.

This guy Charlie Kirk was pond scum. He lied frequently, and insofar as he supported core beliefs they were horrible. If the term "Christianity" means anything at all, he was not a Christian
I do not know why the guy who shot him did so, although it seems that he was from that murky side of that murky spectrum where folks are driven by hatred,

I do not know if CK was simply a con man, or whether he believed what he said. It does seem that he was perpetrating a huge fraud by claiming to lead a grass roots movement that was really funded by a few billionaires.

The aftermath of the shooting reveals a variety of things, all unpleasant.
  • The GOP leadership knows that their followers are stupid people Why treat this guy like a hero? Because these people really are that dumb.
  • Social media is now stacked with posts from celebrities, ostensibly saying precisely the same thing? Why? Because MAGA is really that stupid,
  • When it became clear that the shooter was not trans, or a POC, or an immigrant, or a Democrat, these morons insisted that he had been "radicalized" by higher education. This is the sort of thing that folks who are not educated might believe. (And, presumably people who know nothing about Utah or Utah State.)
  • These people do not know what the word "liberal" means, or "leftie,"
I have no idea what we as a society should do now. The enemy are people who are full of hatred and suspicion and ignorance, And before long many of them will have foreclosed farms, which they will blame on liberals.

This feels like a good time to be approaching death,
