If he shot from 200 meters away, that would give him plenty of time to make a getaway. I'm betting he used a hat and sunglasses and broke the rifle down into a duffle bag. We should have security video clip on the news in the next 30 minutes or so if the guy is still on the loose.
Not sure if sarcastic. I mean, I honestly don't know how snipers do their thing, but you're describing the opening scene in an action film, aren't you?

And older man was arrested immediately following the shooting and a lot of folks recorded that arrest — I guess they have determined he was not the shooter (a number of witnesses said he was too close to have been the shooter).
George Zinn. Detained 12 years ago in connection with a Salt Lake City marathon attempted bombing.

No. In the Boston bombing, they both used hats and sunglasses. He knows there will be security video all around campus, so he needs to be in a passable disguise that conceals his face from facial recognition software (he's not going to be wearing a ski mask).

The shooter can't leave the gun there for forensic reasons. Most likely, he has a rifle that can be disassembled and carried in a bag. Alternatively, he would have a stash location, but this is too high profile for that kind of risk.

He clearly is going to take advantage of the confusion to blend in with the crowd. The same way Oswald was able to escape after a similar shooting (but before video was omnipresent).

Buddy at work said he thinks he was shot from the side with a high caliber handgun…Meaning from left to right with the bullet exiting out of him where you see all the blood…

But the problem is that we DON'T have courts, we DON'T have free speech. SCOTUS has neutered the judiciary. SCOTUS has allowed retribution by the government against people for the content of their expression. The president is hell bent on defying courts and free speech.

This is what happens when the rule of law dies. That was my point on the game theory thread. Law is the only way we can pre-commit to cooperation in a democracy. When it decomposes, the only thing left is a war of all against all, and only deterrence-by-punishment remains.
Beat me to it

His last thoughts were racist and transphobic. Assuming a heck of a trauma surgeon can't save him)

I thought they said suspect in custody?

It isn't me or Ram who are so threatened by differing opinions that we are on a message board applauding the possible death of someone because of different political views. You guys are the party of tolerance and inclusion right? In reality it’s just the opposite.
This is so fucking soft lol. Almost everyone in here is condemning what happened but you’re just scraping the barrel for something to grovel and get bent out of shape about. It’s pathetic.

Nobody is applauding. Everyone is appalled. Stop lying in some ridiculous effort at whatever it is you are doing. This should not happen to anyone. Ever. Period. Nobody should use language and words that ratchet our political temperature up to such a point. So just fucking stop. Please for the love of humanity stop.

OK. Guess we're moving towards that civil war y'all have been calling for.
I cannot speak for others. But I want to be clear: I have been warning about the potential for a rise in violence. I believe that the rhetoric currently online is extremely dangerous, and we are playing with fire as a society. I believe that it is being inflamed by both sides. I believe that the most hateful propaganda, right now, is coming from the Right and that our president enjoys fanning the flames. I in no way support any of it. Nor do I believe that it is necessary.
