Here we are days after the senseless murder of another human. Days after ANOTHER mass shooting and all we care about (myself included) is proving the shooter was left or right leaning.

We haven't learned a damn thing... and I fear it's a lesson we're gonna keep getting until we do.

Not only do we have a president who can’t do that, I really think we have a president who is looking for something that will allow him to obtain the political power to take complete control. I think it is clear as day what the goal is and Trump will be handed that opportunity sooner or later.

You are ignoring one key factor. The right has been enraged by this, is blaming the entirety of the left, and is talking about civil war and declaring the DNC as a terrorist organization. That sentiment has been expressed all the way to the top.

Keep in mind they have every lever of power. Civil War could only mean the mass slaughter of innocent people.

So pardon me for hoping this guy’s ties to the left are nonexistent so as not to trigger wide scale violence.

You clearly don’t understand what we are facing.

I hear ya, but the reason why it matters is because until or unless we can come to an understanding that, no, it’s not the transgender people and, no, it’s not the Blacks or the Browns (or insert whatever minority group of your choosing) that are fomenting the political violence in the country, and yes, it’s the guns, and yes, it’s the violent nihilistic rhetoric, and yes, it’s the “othering”, and yes, it’s the internet/social media, we won’t be able to move forward out of this cycle of tragedy after tragedy after tragedy, senseless killing after senseless killing after senseless killing.

And if the narrative about the shooter doesn’t do the trick, it will be — already is, to a degree — the reaction of the left. Some liberals have been ugly in their reaction, in my opinion. Some have expressed conflicted feelings. But, overall, very few have celebrated Kirk’s murder, it seems to me.

But using that broad brush sets them up to go after all Democrats.

It’s a scary deal.
