The double standard with which these two candidates are covered is sickening. If Kamala Harris had gone on stage last night and shouted ineligible nonsense about immigrants eating dogs & doctors killing babies her candidacy would be over! She would be decried as a crazy person unfit to hold the office of president. I'm fairly certain her party would drop her! And this goes beyond last night. A week ago Trump claimed that your children go off to school and come home a few days later a completely different gender! Insinuating that our school systems (who can barely afford basic supplies) provide them with sex change operations!

I just cannot fathom how this election is close. I do not understand why the media will not cover Trump accordingly. This man has disqualified himself from this race time and time again, yet they continue to normalize his crazy right wing extremism.

How could an undecided voter be undecided at this stage of the game? I simply do not understand why the bar is so much higher for her than it is him... All I hear from undecideds are questions about her policy... WHAT ARE TRUMPS POLICIES? More importantly, who cares? His felonious record would preclude him from delivering your mail... but you want him to have nuclear codes?

It has to be misogyny.

(And pardon me if you have previously discussed this double standard, I'm new here)

Yeah there was a media coverage thread - I bet it went to page 2. But still so damn relevant.

He insinuated she's a slut in the debate...the put out comment. That would have disqualified anyone but they just ignore it because he's so insane, they dont care. Because he tapped into the absolute IDIOCY of half of this nation.

I fear it runs much deeper, and more sick than just misogyny.

My fiancée asked me today (Via Text) "Why are all these women on facebook like oh she don't speak for all women because she don't speak for me.... what exactly has she done to target women that make Trump women hate her so much?"

I told her the answer to her question is a multi-faceted one and not simple at all and that they are mostly uneducated and have spent their entire lives being objectified by men. Trump acts like every male figure has acted their entire life. They see their father or their brother or their husband in Trump and its a vicious behavioral cycle that will likely continue to repeat itself in their children. They've been told their entire life that all they have to offer is their body, they have been objectified and taught that is how you get/keep a man. They see the men in their lives endorsing Trump and think that they must endorse him too. And these women can't admit any of that because they don't even realize they've been mentally abused their entire life.

So you're right. It is deeper than Misogyny.

Floatan disagrees with your take. Perhaps he'd be so good as to offer his interpretation of why Trump's xenophobic ranting about Haitian immigrants eating cats should not be disqualifying.

Trump women hate her because that’s what Trump men tell them to do. And being the dutiful, child-bearing women they are, they listen without giving any sass-talk back.

i didn't hear that
Far be it from me to defend Trump, but that quote has been mischaracterized. Here’s the larger quote:

“I don’t care what she is,” Trump said. “ … All I can say is I read where she was not Black, that she put out, and, I’ll say that. And then I read that she was Black, and that’s okay.

By “put out”, he’s referring to a press release or bio…nothing sexual.

I bet you he meant it sexually

He's talked about her giving oral pleasure to get ahead.

This is correct. He’s just such a terrible wordsmith that he struggles to form complete, understandable sentences.

Why does anyone bother giving Trump the benefit of the doubt here?

Definitely not trying to defend Trump, but the guy isn't smart enough/good enough with words to work something in like that. Listening to the audio of that segment during the debate it was pretty clear he was talking about a statement/interview that she 'put out' about her race.

I think you’re wrong.

I think you’re wrong.
Have to agree with snoop on this. Trump is one stoopid m-fer, but even he is not so stoopid as to say that in a debate, live, on TV.

It was meant in the context of “she put out a statement saying…”
Not “she puts out” like some fraternity little sister puts out at a keg party.

Can someone find this press release that Kamala put out proclaiming herself “not black.”

Hate Trump. But you are reaching.

I don’t ever give the benefit of the doubt. But live and then upon re-watch, it is clear to me that he was referring to a statement or release.

Part of this is because his answer (as with many in this debate) was bumbling and stumbling …. he was having trouble getting out an answer and was certainly *not* cleverly inserting a double entendre.

Now would I be surprised if MAGA nation thinks it is funny …. that he tries to take credit for it … no, not at all. But that’s because he’s a genuine POS.
