The Music Thread

Does anyone else know about this young artist, Scene Queen? OMG. I discovered her music this weekend. I think I have a crush. She describes her music as "bimbocore." It's heavy, it's sexy, it's catchy, it's sassy, it's moshy, oh damn. And it's sorta safe for work depending on where you work, but probably NSFW in some places.

best thing i heard today...

"I'm gonna drink my whiskey, gonna have my man ""Spent all my money on absolutely nothing"

I got two songs for you folks. One I might have posted already. I can't remember.

This is Tim Carroll, out of Nashville. One of my favorite songwriters. Great rock and roll guy. This tune isn't much like most of his stuff. But I think it's clever and that the message will resonate.

"First they came for the marginalized/
And what did we say?/
'Not today'

Then they came for the protesters/
And what did we say?/
'Not today'..."

I urge you to listen.

And this is by one of my best pals growing up. Terrific musician.

He put this together after the election:

"You fell for the ruse/
That you ain't got nothing to lose/
That no matter what you choose/
They ain't coming for you...

We tried to warn you"

How the hell did I not know about this Prince Xmas song??? Just heard it the first time yesterday on SiriusXM (the Fallon Christmas channel — yeah, I know).

You can't knock that version but this is always going to be my favorite BS&T album. No small part is that I'm a big Al Kooper fan.

Sort of a Country Cardi B meets Limp Bizkit. I like the hard rock combined with solid hip-hop beats, but the country twang ruins it for me. I go through phases of music, but I've never been able to get on board with the twangy country.

I'm currently in a Nujabes with Haruka Nakamura added (Pandora station) phase. A mostly instrumental station helps me focus at work. It's instrumental music with bass heavy, hip hop beats under it.

I saw them, but I was high on drugs that year so it could have been either one:cool:

That said, Chicago is on my list for most underappreciated bands
Yes. Did some blotter myself; pretty much the whole weekend. Bits and pieces, fragments of memories. Them were the days.

I didn't realize that you think "underappreciated" is a synonym for "so insipid that it can drive a man to madness." Well, that's my view of Chicago, at least.

There's a country twang on only that song. That was the single, and I'm sure that was chosen for release because they could make that video for it.

On the rest of the album she alternates between riot grrl, sassy pop-star self-absorption, and pop diva. More of the first and second than the third.

Think it was '70 Jubilee they played. Remember how the horns just blew me away.
My cousin Craig started his career in music working as their soundman back in the mid 70's. Arrived at our house heading north one night with the band and spent the night. He was talented, built relationships and was hired to tour with many of the top acts of the day. Stones, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and others. Retired now and lives in Rehoboth Beach. Great stories, got us back stage at a few events.

An early song from The Tragically Hip uploaded to my YT channel. I love the lead guitar solo part in this particular song. Prime Video has a four-part documentary series on the band called "The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal," the title of which comes from a line in their iconic song "Ahead by a Century". Ask any Canadian and they will know about The Hip.
