I like most of what you guys post—big fan of blues, folk, funk, Americana/alt country, jazz, brit pop, British Invasion, and so much more. But damn… something post 1980 can really liven things up every once in a while.
NPR for me: WDAV 89.9 classical out of Davidson and WNCW 88.7 out of Spindale Americana +Do people still listen to terrestrial radio?
This was the most played song of the 20th century.
When WNCW began broadcasting in the 80s? I could barely get it up on my Madison county land. Meteorology definitely had something to do with it. The Asheville and other locals were, let's say not worth tuning into. Occasionally ger a Johnson City station. Butt NCW finally was a radio station worth listening to; bettrer than anything in the Triangle. Over the years reception improved. My god what a great mix of music. I"ll stream it at home on occasion. I'm an annual donor still. Hopefully they can stay funded.NPR for me: WDAV 89.9 classical out of Davidson and WNCW 88.7 out of Spindale Americana +
Indeed. WNCW is my jam. An eclectic mix of Americana, Jazz, Blues, RnR, Bluegrass,Funk, R&B, Folk, Celtic, a little Reggae, old school this and that... BUT also features new/newer music and artists. Folks on this thread crying for something "not old", they can find plenty of "new tunes" on WNCW. They have antennae boosters all around - so 88.7FM is not the only station on your dial. Plus they stream all over the world. They always pay homage to whomever is having a birthday (living or otherwise) on any given day. They'll celebrate Earl Scruggs and Thelonius Monk and everyone in between. When WNCW began broadcasting in the 80s? I could barely get it up on my Madison county land. I'm 76 and if I'm not the oldest person on this board I'm pretty damn close.
This was a big hit in 1969.
