I love Dar.

I've seen her many times in the Arts Center, and she has so many poignant songs that it's hard to choose on many CDS, but this one speaks to the religious indoctrination of a young girl.

“A fascinating behind-the-scenes account of the making of Bruce Springsteen’s ground-breaking album, Born to Run – one of the most iconic records in rock history – Tonight in Jungleland combines lush music writing with unprecedented inside access to Springsteen, his bandmates, and the full story behind every song… and coincides with the album’s 50th anniversary in August 2025.”

Not gonna make claims about best or anything but Darkness at the Edge of Town will always be my favorite album of his.
Really like Darkness but it’s the subject matter of Born to Run that hits with me. Have listened to his Broadway album and his intro to Thunder Road says it all, at least to me 😀

ETA: my favorite non BTR song is Racing in the Street and think it goes head to head with anything on BTR.

Saw these guys in a club in Baton Rouge back in 2006. I am a zydeco/loosianna fan and danced to the band all night long , but they played a James Brown cover and I became a lifelong fan... zydeco and soul R&B ? oh yeah, baby

Double your pleasure.

You always "trump" me, brother :D

I have a collection of over 70 country music CDs. That's not the largest collection of my genre collection, but I do love country music .

Loretta ? Conway ? George Jones ? Merle Haggard ? Buck Owens ? Johnny Cash ?

don't get better than that🥳

How about this new bro country artist Eli Mercer

There was a guy in North Carolina who made ~10 million off of Spotify/Apple Music etc by creating AI songs and then getting bots to stream them. Caught federal charges for it. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s punished now that’s AI generated music is all over the place. I’ve suspected for a while that using bots to generate listens/clicks/views is way more widespread than we think.

Anybody else listen to 8 track flashback on 90.7 WNCU? Saturdays 12-4pm.
I listen when I'm doing yardwork and really enjoy it. Tar Heel Slim is singing #9 right now!

Excited for a slate of heavy shows later this summer and fall. The Acacia Strain in Charlotte, The Callous Daoboys in Greensboro and freaking AFI in Asheville.

I’m particularly excited for He Is Legend in Asheville though. They’re a metalcore band from Wilmington that have since changed their sound a bit, but their early albums from 2004-2006 were hugely influential on my guitar playing and most of the people in the NC scene around that time. Their songwriting was a little more artistic than other bands at that time, which mostly still followed the tough-guy east coast hardcore playbook.

So I have been day drinking since 7am and playing my favorite live CDs

Now I'm listening one of my very favorites. I had the privilege to see Rickie Lee Jones at the Arts Center in the Peoples' Republic of Carrboro.
Her performance at Red Rocks is one I wish I could go back in time and experience. Her band was so tight and Rickie was so good and connected with the audience.
Every song is great but playing this one to feature the band
