I had to google it, looks like it was A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour in 1988.The Pink Floyd gig… was that “The Wall” tour?
That would be ironic…![]()
This was sort of the premise of your very first post back on page one of this thread you started. I think I answered it then, somewhere back on the first few pages.I was wondering what decades do most of the folks here listen to in relation to your age.
I am 51. Mine would be from most to least the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 1970s, 1960s, 2010s, and 1950s.
My jam right now:
I agree. I prefer real country , George Jones is my country hero and Merle Haggard who I had the opportunity to see in Memorial Hall years ago. Buck Owens, Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty...I like a lot of country but very little of the current mainstream country.
My Pleasure! Love The Oscar! First time I ever heard him was in the 1960's - but I didn't know what I was hearing. Until the early 1970's. I noticed something funny about his solos - until I realized he was famously humming along with his solos - simultaneously with his piano. He scatted, or vocalized notes, often in rhythmic or melodic patterns like "beep ba deep," with his piano playing. When I first started trying to play jazz guitar, I was taught to "hum along" with the notes I was attempting to play on the guitar. Hum along either in my head or aloud. One of my big influences on jazz guitar is John Pizzarelli, and he does this technique all the time.I so love Oscar Peterson. He is on my Mount Rushmore of jazz pianists
My favorite cd is Live At The Northsea Jazz Festival with the great Joe Pass and Toots Thielemans.
The Trio cd and Encore at the Blue Note cd are other favorites of mine.
Oscar had the rep for hammering the piano keys. His Night Train cd shows a softer side.
Thank you my brother !
I called him Scooter but that's because I've been day drinking since 7am. I have a Sturgill Simpson cd but I am unfamiliar with the other outlaws. I will check them out.Oh, I'm familiar with Shooter as well. He has a show on Outlaw Country. I like him but I'd like him more if he did a little better job remembering who he is and not who his parents were.
... Still drinking from last night's all-night binge? Or up early with a hair-of-the-dog? Or do we need to have an intervention??? WE know you're not tail-gating already for the ACC championship game tonight in Charlotte...I called him Scooter but that's because I've been day drinking since 7am. Meanwhile, Gretchen Wilson is my absolute favorite. There is no bad song on any of her cds.
