I love how WRAL mets are always in CYA mode when it comes to potential winter storms here. They always go with the models that looks the worst and then make sure to say everything that could go wrong to reduce their already conservative totals.
 
The folks on that americanwx forum are fantatics....I thought I used to like to follow the weather.... then I read that forum.

I mean I read it for events like this but good lord the "well the 3z OH QPCP model had a dry intake zone..." just makes me like "ummm why you not on the news?"
 
Radar showing snow here in Triad, but air is too dry to make it to ground yet. My Weather and Climate Professor Dodd taught us, that is called sublimation. Sublimation is when a solid goes directly from solid to a gas, skipping a transformation to liquid first. Same thing occurs when snow disappears from ground below freezing.

I lived in Wisconsin for a while Snowpack shrinks even at 0 degrees Always fascinated me
