I’d be down. We have friends who live pretty close to there and go to the Eddy and the general store a fair amount.

South of 54 and in Orange County is so much on crappy narrow roads……White Cross and Collins Mountain Roads between Old Greensboro Highway and Crawford Dairy Road are great cycling roads; BUT, being on either puts you on either or both Old Greensboro and/or Crawford Dairy. Those SUCK!

Even in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s we didn’t ride on Old Greensboro.

Dairyland and out to Efland was empty. Orange Grove Road was empty in those days. Old 86 was empty.

Riding west/northwest from the Clean Machine was great riding.

A run from Carrboro Town Hall on Old 86 to the old Hillsborough High School was dead-on 13.1 miles and a GREAT run with a support vehicle carrying water. An “easy” 95-100 minute run. Beautiful road.

I wouldn’t run or bike on Old 86 for a million dollars today.

I’d up my life insurance before I’d ride on Old Greensboro or Crawford Dairy.

I avoid all of those you said to avoid. I'm largely around the breakfast
Bradshaw Quarry up to West Ten area
And definitely not around busy driving times
 
Getting some heavy rain here now. Bye bye, yellow scourge.

Of course, our back porch is covered so I'll have to blow that off sometime later this week 😒
