WOW! A Beautancus shout-out. I always love hearing people not from the area trying to pronounce it. The way I pronounce it is "Bow - tank - us". The first time my wife, a Yankee, tried to say it, she pronouncet it "Beaut - ta - nay - us" and no one knew what she was talking about.
You pronounce it correctly.

A couple years ago I was driving my three boys around. They were probably 3, 4, and 4 at the time. We were playing “I Spy” and my youngest said, “I spy with my little eye… something white!”

We took a bunch of guesses, but after a bit I said, “I don’t know, buddy, what is it?”

“Your hair!”

At the time, and still now, I had some white at the temples and a few more around the head, but man, he really got me on that one.
My grandsons are 17 now. One day, when they were 4, I was sitting on the couch. One of them was standing on the couch beside me. I was holding him so he wouldn’t fall. He was messing with my hair. He said, “Your hair is brown and white Pop.” He paused for a second and added, “Mostly white.”

My hair is less gray than it was eight years ago. Either the radiation or chemo caused my hair to darken. It's not as dark as it started but darker (and thinner) than it was. It's not that unusual for hair to come back a different color or texture after losing it during treatment but I didn't lose mine. It just changed.

Later becoming the dish's namesake, James Salisbury published a work in 1888 advocating what food as a treatment for numerous ailments?

Without looking, I'm going with steak, as in Salisbury steak.
So, the answer was broiled beef.

I just found it interesting as I didn't know that Salisbury steak originated from a guy named Salisbury who was pitching its medicinal qualities. 😁

The real question is how he pronounced his own last name. Bunch of lunch ladies may need to change their shtick.

Anyone else notice people using those giant skeleton Halloween decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas, too? I have seen two of them in yards here dressed up like Santa.
