So, I take it you are ok with this?

I find it interesting that the church has an issue with a man loving another "MAN", yet they protected men that violated little "BOYS".
The Catholic Church is an utter embarrassment and a haven for gay pedophiles.

That aside, sure, I'm absolutely ok with a church, and really any business, having the right to fire anyone they want.

I also 100% support gay marriage.

So, how exactly did his marriage impact his work?

It's one thing to fire someone for performance, it's another to fire someone because you disagree with them about something outside of work.

How would you feel if your manager fired you for an activity you participate in on weekends, that never impacts your job performance in anyway?

So, no companies should not be allowed to fire anyone they want.

And accepting little discriminations like this leads to greater discrimination.

One last thing, the church needs to lose all tax breaks, outside of those that all businesses receive, then we can talk about them firing people.

It's a shame that they get so much special treatment, even to the point of a police officer at the intersection of a major church near me controlling the stop light to give them favor when entering and exiting after Sunday indoctrination services. Let them pay all the same taxes as any other business and then maybe they deserve some benefits from the police and traffic controls.

Can't find the right thread for this...so I'll go with this one. Need a little catharsis.

A month ago, my eldest graduated from University Of Chicago with flying colors. Double major in Math and CompSci, squeezed in a Master's in Math. Really applied himself these last four years. A good part of the family spent the week up there for festivities and we had a grand old time. A couple of us had a sore throat during that week, but didn't think munching of it.

A week later, I get a call from my kid that he's not feeling well. He had been sick for a week, taking DayQuil/Nyquil. Had just made the drive with his gf to New York (starting a new Jobe in a couple of weeks). Gf's mom takes a look at him when they pull in and tells him to go to the clinic the next morning. So I get a call that he's been taken to the hospital. Apparently he had strep which morphed into pneumonia and he led to an infection in a lung. My wife and I fly up the next day...only to receive the news that he would require surgery. To make a long story short, we spent almost two weeks in a hospital in Westchester. Doctors and nurses were wonderful, but it's quite a lengthy stay (I have a lot of comments about perverse incentives, but that's another story). His university insurance was still active (thankfully because that tab is astronomical).

Had never really spent much time in that part of New York. It's weird how near NYC it turns into small towns. I rode into Brooklyn a few days to help out with the apartment search, so got a little taste of the city. Anyways, he's doing well now, but it was quite a scare.

Finally. Blue was entirely too cheery. It's time we stared into the Black Abyss when Windows shits the bed.
While a coworker was away on vacation we asked IT to get us access to his PC. We took a screenshot of BlueScreenODeath, made it his screensaver, made his screensaver come on as quickly as possible. So he comes back from Vaca, boots up, it immediately BSOD's, he keeps rebooting a few time, he'd wiggle the mouse and see his desktop, then a second later the BSOD, more reboots. You should've seen his face when we all marched in after hearing him cursing and explained the prank.

I'm so glad that you are part this and your son is going to be ok. I completely understand the emotions of a trip to the hospital when toy child is there.

My hoops team made the Finals of the CR Pro League. After winning the first game in resounding fashion, the wheels came off. My team captain broke his foot in the second game (and I had lost my best wing defender in Game 1). I'm also missing my American guy who tore his hamstring during the playoffs. Lost Game 2 by 14 (was down 25 at one point) and Game 3 by 13 (had been down 25...cut it down to 6 points with 2 minutes to go...we got called for a bullshit unsportsmanlike foul trying to stop the clock). I also got called for my first technical foul of the season in that game for disagreeing with a call (did not use profanity, did not insult the refs, did not even do excessive gestures).

This will likely be my last season coaching club ball.

Why do so many restrooms need signs telling people not to throw anything other than TP into the toilets?

In the Men's room, no less.

Why do so many androids in si-fi shows look like metal humans?
The book concepts in the early 60s and such was that it was to make them look more familiar and make them more easily acceptable than some multi armed alien looking creature even if it were more utilitarian.

And tonight I play for my fifth national title in CR Hoops.

My guys showed some guts in Game 4; we beat our opponent by 22. Even with a shorthanded team, we came out very aggressive. To be honest, my guys believed they could win more than I did.

We'll see about tonight.

I spell things wrong so often, that sometimes I type something and I'm surprised when it's spelled correctly.

“A 61-year-old man in New York has died after he was sucked into a magnetic resonance imaging machine this week, Nassau County police said Friday.

The man was wearing a large metal chain and entered a room without authorization as the MRI machine, which uses a strong magnetic field, was running at a medical office in Westbury on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The metal necklace caused him “to be drawn into the machine which resulted in a medical episode,” police said, noting the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m.“

I was at my wife's college reunion, sitting at the end of a long table and drinking. The guy next to me was trying to remember song lyrics; I sang it for him: "My Maserati does 185; I lost my license, now I don't drive". Later some people at the other end of the table- who had previously been friendly- weren't speaking to me. My wife later informed me they were offended that I had a Maserati and lost my license for speeding.

I read this 3 minutes ago and I’m still laughing 😂.

It’s a good thing you didn’t tell them about your mansion you’ve never been to. They probably would have burned you at the stake.
