Trump 2028

You said it yourself.
We deserve this.
America deserves everything it voted for.
Duly elected.
Popular vote.
Electoral victory twice over.
Cry over the spilt milk and clean it up.
It just may take a few decades to clean it up, that’s all.

The people who are smart enough or not racists and bigots and didn't vote for Trump don't deserve this crap.

Personally I don’t think Trump 2028 is worth worrying about right now. But it is very on brand for you to be more concerned about people worrying about this than Trump and people like Bannon either pushing the idea or refusing to rule it out.
Even Trump fired Bannon. I care nothing about his opinion on anything nor should anyone else.

Ok, forget Bannon - you don’t care that Trump himself talks about it?

Trump talks about a lot of things, often to get people fired up.

I think he's going all out (putting all yes-men around him and misusing presidential powers) to accomplish everything he wants to get done because this term is all he has to get it all done.

Plus, the blowback would be too much. He'd lose and he has to know he'd lose.

The major blame goes to the people who were so stupid as to ignore the state of SCOTUS in 2016 and let personalities and decades of lies about Hillary persuade them to either vote against her or stay home. Lying Hillary, indeed, you dumbass SOBs.

Totally agree. I was pointing out what the OP said himself

But at the of the day the milk was spilled.
We can cry over it (or not) but we should clean it up…. It just may take a very long time to clean it all up.

Personally, I like crying over spilt milk… I like to yell and kick and scream and cuss out loud. It doesn’t clean the milk up, but it is sort of cathartic in a way.

There is simply no denying that Republicans and Democrats are now being held to totally different standards by the news media and much of the voting public. Republicans can literally say whatever they want and do whatever they want with little to no consequences, and most of the media and public just shrugs. But let a Democrat have a single slip of the tongue or say or do anything even remotely controversial and suddenly it's pile-on time and the knives come out. The evidence is overwhelming that Trump is a far more frequent liar and far more corrupt than Hillary ever dreamed of being, but good luck convincing half the country and nearly all of our news media of that. The Clintons (especially Bill) were hardly saints, but they look minor-league compared to what we're seeing in this administration, which will almost certainly go down as the most corrupt, fraudulent, and deceitful in American history.

You're not wrong. However, it obviously affects us all, unfortunately.

The idea of a "reckoning" comes to mind here. In its true sense and not just the casual way we sometimes use the term. John Brown, for instance (and who I may just start a thread about here shortly), said that the fact of slavery meant America was due a reckoning in a Biblical sense. And he was absolutely right, despite the fact that most Americans at the time did not own slaves or even necessarily supported the institution of slavery.

I'm not suggesting this era is anything like his era but to the point that Trump has completely gutted the concept of truth - which holds society together - perhaps we are due another reckoning of sorts.

As Americans, we accept a certain level of corruption, lies, unaccountability, etc., from our politicians. Always have. It's obviously imperfect, and we should do better. However, this has always been the case, and we've still managed.

Trump is an entirely different level of these things. And one that is completely unacceptable, provided we still have any pretense of remaining a democracy or being a "country of the people." Trumpism is unsustainable, at least if we are to remain a constitutional republic.
