As Democrats and Liberals, we will always be up against the 8-ball BECAUSE American “Independents” and “moderates” will always favor “law and order” - emphasis on order…..over civil and individual rights.

The ideal of 1776 (and, I’d argue that ideal was BULLSHIT) - almost no one at the Continental Congress was voting in favor of equal rights for women, blacks, slaves, or Native Americans.

The Declaration of Independence was for wealthy white men who owned property.

The Democrats don't want any help in the warzones they call safe neighborhoods because they don't want their incompetence exposed. They don't want it shown that crime can be greatly impacted by proper leadership and then be expected to keep up the standard once the help is over.

Everyone knows the dangerous parts of Chicago and it's not lakeside in the morning. We all know how to stop crime. A simple history lesson will show you.

The question to the people who have to live in these dangerous areas is who is your real friend, the party which acknowledges that people are being gunned down in the streets, and something needs to be done to save these lives or the party that says all is good, nothing to see here?

I guess then you agree with Brandon Johnson who proclaimed at the “Workers Over Billionaires” rally that Chicago was built by slavers and indigenous peoples? Woke > actual history = virtue signaling to please other liberals.

Agree. It's the same thing with the homeless and the encampments which hurt the quality of life in many big cities. Trump goes in and cleans out Union Square and gets rid of the homeless encampments in the various parks which instantly improves the life of the residents and tourists alike. This is a major embarrassment to city mayors and a governor like Newsom since California's homelessness crisis has exploded during his watch.

It doesn't really matter where the homeless go since it's the Mayor's duty to keep his/her city clean and safe. The State and Federal governments need to address the larger issues of homelessness.

100% Agreed. America is facing a mental health crisis. It's the contemporary version of DuBois' "The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line."

So, I'll ask again. What's your solution, and how final is it?

I'll add that this sentence -- "It doesn't really matter where the homeless go since it's the Mayor's duty to keep his/her city clean and safe." -- captures so much of what is rotten with modern "conservatism." Take care of yourself, regardless of what it means for everyone else. Just an unbelievably selfish, short-sighted view of the world.

Yes. How 'bout big cities put the homeless on buses and drop them off at Mar a Lago and Bedminster?

Of course liberals would never do this because decency.

Calling any place in America a “war zone” immediately destroys your credibility and renders you an insufferable jackass. Just sayin’.

So all city residents are required to have their cities' parks, sidewalks and common areas ruined by the homelessness until we figure out a way to solve the entire homelessness problem? That appears to be Newsom's approach. He's spent 24 BILLION on homelessness over the past five years, yet the homeless population has increased by 30,000 individuals during the same period. Wow, put that in a tweet Gavin.

So let's do the opposite of what California has done to solve the problem.

Martha's Vineyard is a nice spot. I would think the good liberals of the island would welcome the "unhoused."

Okay where would you put the Homeless in DC?
No all the Homeless won't fit on Martha's vineyard So don't be flippant Give a real answer
I was inthe touristy area of DC last Thanksgiving-did all the standard stuff with my two young grandsons Stayed "downtown"
No one bothered us

Haha. I was in court yesterday when the grand jury foreperson came in with the bills of indictment that the gran jury considered. The grand jury had 250 bills to consider and indicted on all 250 of them. I can almost guarantee that some of those are weak cases that will eventually get dismissed. It’s hard not to get a case indicted.
