The only thing that is still a mystery is how he and the conservative media ecosystem will blame it on "lefties". It will be tough given Republicans control every branch of government, but you know they'll find away and the morons who depend on them for their opinions will lap it up.

I've made a variation of this post (what follows below) half a dozen times now.

Everything unpopular will be blamed on the Dems/not-MAGA folks by right-wing media. They are the critical part of keeping this all going and - coupled with their already baked-in cultish denialism of non-MAGA reality - you can bet the farm the Trump supporters will eat that shit up. For the foreseeable future. The analogy I've used is the Oceania/Eurasia...

The only way this succeeds long-term - where things get worse but Trump isn't ascribed the blame - is because of his enabling right-wing media machine using the amorphous enemy as a perpetual scapegoat/distraction, in the spirit of 1984. As they proudly claim, "if we'd had Fox News back in the days of Nixon, there's no way he'd ever had to resign and his impeachment would have failed."

Trump's continued existence is only possible because of an army of enablers, and unfortunately, he's got that in spades right now.

Seriously. Read the other threads where they claim to know that he was never planning on actually completing certain campaign promises, YES, they are comfortable being lied to.

I know that all politicians promise things that they may not be able to deliver for one reason or another, but they are not simply lying if they have the intent to look into how to make it happen. trump never had any intent. He simply said what people wanted to hear, now we get to spend the next few years learning what his real intentions are.

They will claim that it is a lag effect from the Biden administration.

Sad that they didn't realize that inflation, supply chain, and other economic issues of the Biden administration were lagging from trump and COVID.

Exactly. We have some friends who are millionaires. They voted trump and really couldn't say why other than a grasp that their businesses, that they started in 2020 and are doing extremely well, would do better under trump.

Trump spent the entirety of the last four years, including his campaign, talking about how horrible the Biden economy was because prices were so high. Gas costs too much, groceries cost too much, houses cost too much, etc. It was literally his entire economic message: Vote for me, and you'll be able to afford things again, just like you were able to during my first term. Now, he's already conceding that lowering prices isn't going to be easy, and may not be doable at all. Something he knew during the campaign, and something every sentient (that is, non-Trump voting) human being already knew. But the dumb fucks put aside all the character issues, all the rapes, all the illegal grift and tax evasion, all the threats to democracy, the insurrection attempt, all of that, so they could save some money at the grocery store.

Well, they AREN'T going to save any money at the grocery store, and Trump is now backpedaling on his grand non-plan to help them do that. So, once again, he lied.

This is the essence of it all. The grocery store prices are a more publicly palatable excuse for them, but in the end, it still comes down to the same thing: They are small-minded bigots who resent that society is forcing them to coexist with others that are "less than."
