Right. Also typical of other kinds of despotism. That was my point. I'm not interested in arguing this. It's barely relevant. I was merely saying that if there is a trait X, and it is shared among A, B, C, and D, even if it's necessary to D, it doesn't mean X is a D feature. It means X is a feature of D and other things.

Whatever, I don't know why I bothered to put in that comment. I read Eco's essay a while back.

I don’t think this is just a distraction. This is who Trump is. He is the guy who kept a book of Hitler speeches by his bedside (according to Ivana).

Actually think Ivana said Mein Kampf but I believe she was mistaken.

It really is disgusting. Its full of animals running around in a desert in something I think they call a play but it didn't look like fun to me. Something about a lion and a king. There's this other play where a poor immigrant can only ride around on a freaking carpet. A La Din or something dumb like that. Also I saw a bunch of dudes who are so poor they just spend all day hitting balls with wooden sticks and chasing each other around on a dirt field. They call themselves the Pulls or Yanks or something dumb like that. There's this gathering coming up called the NY Film Festival where its so gross they have to put down a red carpet so they don't touch the disgusting ground. I feel bad for anyone who has to live in that hell hole.

My guess is the goal is to occupy every Democrat city (party stronghold) in the US and use intimidation tactics or just flat out kill the opposition to stay in power. Preferably by 2026 but 2028 will do.

Yes, but him putting in a federal request does 2 things: it kisses Trump’s ass and it gets federal dollars to pay for the ass kissing. If he just called up the guard himself, his state has to pay for it.

Exactly. Why use state funds when the feds seem hell bent to waste tax dollars on this show of force? This all for theatrics anyway -- no plans to address any indigency problems on a long-term basis -- so why waste state dollars on this boondoggle?

Also, the feds can bring in national guard troops from other states.
